Chapter 82 The Villain’s Chest
As expected...
A tall, slender figure stood there. His handsome face was furrowed with worry, his expression grave.
It was the villain...
Seeing this, Lin Nanxun froze. The moment she saw his mature and solemn face, all the anxiety and sorrow she had suppressed for so long suddenly burst forth, impossible to contain.
The injustice she felt in her heart surged up unexpectedly.
She sat rigidly on the bench, her eyes already red from crying, and tears spilled out once more...
...
Shen Han came striding over, and when he reached the bench, he saw her eyes swollen and wet with tears.
His brows tightened; his chest felt as if it had been stabbed with something sharp, and his tall frame stiffened.
Lin Nanxun looked up and stared at the man before her for a moment, then lowered her head and quietly raised her hand, wiping away the endless tears from her face.
Her reaction surprised Shen Han.
He had expected her to cry loudly, or perhaps grab his hand and beg him not to abandon her.
But now... she said nothing, only sat there silently wiping her tears, not uttering a word, yet looking heartbreakingly sad.
Such a Lin Nanxun made Shen Han's expression shift, a wave of pity rising within him.
"Miss Lin, are you alright..." Zhou Bei, witnessing this, felt odd as well and hurried to apologize.
"I'm sorry, this is all my fault. I failed to protect you."
He should have lost those people sooner and returned to find her.
When Zhou Bei finished speaking, Lin Nanxun merely sniffled quietly, saying nothing.
Seeing her so sad and awkward, Shen Han's face darkened.
He stared at her for several seconds, then finally spoke in a low voice.
"If you want to cry, then cry out loud."
Compared to her usual self—crying when she wanted to, acting spoiled when she pleased—he found her unfamiliar in this moment.
A few seconds after Shen Han spoke, Lin Nanxun, biting her lip to keep herself from crying aloud, could no longer hold back. She looked up at him, her sorrowful gaze finally giving way to a sob.
"You villain, why did you only just come..."
She had thought he wouldn’t come, that he would abandon her like her uncle.
In the time she waited here, she had been so incredibly afraid.
If only he could have come sooner.
When she lifted her little face, streaked with tears and full of grievance, especially when he saw the fear and helplessness in her eyes, Shen Han’s handsome features shifted once again.
His gaze darkened.
In the next moment, he sat down beside her and suddenly raised his hand, pulling her, heartbroken and tearful, into his arms.
Suddenly pressed against a warm chest, Lin Nanxun was stunned.
It was the first time the villain had held her.
His embrace was so warm, so reassuring.
She froze, and her sobs slowly faded, her breathing gradually steadying.
The villain’s embrace seemed to possess a magical power, able to soothe all the sadness and pain in her heart.
Within a few seconds, her intense anxiety from earlier had already gradually... vanished.
Shen Han lowered his gaze, watching the girl in his arms for a moment, the light in his dark eyes flickering, his handsome face growing complex.
After a moment, his thin lips moved as he said,
"I'm sorry I was so late..."
There was a subtle tenderness in his deep voice, impossible to miss.
