Shen Hanzhi stared at the television screen, where a cartoon was playing, for a few seconds before finally showing a look of satisfaction. He set down the remote control and spoke in a calm, indifferent tone.
“Watch this.”
Simple shows like this were more suitable for her.
When Lin Nanxun glanced at the screen and saw it was an uninteresting cartoon, disappointment immediately clouded her delicate face, and her whole demeanor soured.
“I don’t like this,” she murmured to him.
This was meant for three-year-old children.
She wasn’t a child anymore and had no interest in such things.
Noticing her dissatisfaction, Shen Hanzhi shot her a glance and said coldly,
“Then don’t watch it.”
With that, he picked up the remote again and turned off the television.
He had expected her to protest or voice her displeasure, but instead she fell completely silent.
When he turned to look at her, he saw her eyes rimmed red, unhappiness written plainly across her face.
Every emotion she felt was always transparent, etched right across her features.
Was she angry?

Shen Hanzhi frowned slightly, watching her sulky expression for a long while.
She turned her head away, angry, to gaze out the window.
As he studied her silent form, it suddenly dawned on him that perhaps his tone just now had been too harsh.
He had never paid attention to such things before—using a stern voice to express his thoughts had always been his habit, without any concern for others’ feelings or reactions.
But now, facing her, he suddenly realized that for someone as timid as she was, perhaps he had been far too severe.
It was only after a long pause that Shen Hanzhi exhaled quietly and spoke to her in explanation.
“Those kinds of TV dramas aren’t suitable for you.” His voice was calmer than before.
Upon hearing this, Lin Nanxun immediately grew indignant, pursing her lips and earnestly defending herself.
“It clearly says it’s for viewers over eighteen. I’m already twenty. I’m an adult.”
Seeing her earnest, anxious little face, Shen Hanzhi almost found it amusing.
“An adult? Then go to school,” he said, arching his brow at her.
He’d had someone look into it—before her accident and subsequent break from school, her grades had always been excellent.
Lu Yuanchong had said she ought to spend more time with people; that was the only way she might recover, rather than hiding behind him all day.
And school was the perfect place for that.

The moment she heard the word “school,” Lin Nanxun’s expression changed at once, as if she were a deflated balloon, her head drooping.
“I don’t want to go,” she mumbled.
She didn’t want to attend school—there were too many people, and she would be afraid.
Besides, she simply didn’t want to go back anymore...
Just then, the door to the hospital room swung open, and Aunt Xu and Zhou Bei came in, lugging a suitcase and a pile of things.
“Miss Lin, I’ve made some delicious soup. It’s still hot—have some while it’s fresh,” Aunt Xu said affectionately, setting down the things and bringing a thermos over to the bedside.
But the girl half-reclining on the bed had her head bowed, her face filled with loss and unhappiness.
“What’s wrong, dear? Who upset you?” Aunt Xu immediately noticed her mood and couldn’t help asking.
As soon as she spoke, she seemed to realize something, and turned to glance at the sofa.
There were only two people in the room—had the young master scolded her?
He was known for his temper. With only subordinates around, he’d never had to restrain himself.
Right from the start, she’d known better than to expect him to care for anyone—he’d probably only make things worse the more he tried...
