Chapter 64: Stirring an Impulse to Protect

Everyone in this studio was busy, and they were so accustomed to the usual stifling atmosphere that, truth be told, most of them were rather dull. Today, however, a cute and beautiful young woman had suddenly appeared, and her presence brought a refreshing sense of novelty and happiness to the group. Especially since she seemed so timid and gentle, evoking in people an impulse to protect her—even Ye Ning, who was known for her tough demeanor, felt this way.

After hearing what was said, Lin Nanxun hesitated for a few seconds before giving a small, gentle nod. Ye Ning smiled at her, then turned and walked away. Once Ye Ning had left, Luo En gave Lin Nanxun a friendly smile and explained, “This is just how we are here. Everyone’s used to being informal. You’ll get used to it.”

Lin Nanxun didn’t say anything, only nodded obediently as always. Though it wasn’t as reassuring as being by the side of her protector, it didn’t seem as dangerous as she’d imagined either. Her heart was still tense, but she wasn’t as frightened of strangers as she used to be.

“Back to the point,” Luo En remembered something, “Although it’s your first day here and you need to get familiar with the place, I’d still like to ask you for a favor.”

A look of confusion appeared on Lin Nanxun’s face.

Luo En took a folder, walked over to her, and explained, “This is the series for early spring next year. I keep thinking something’s not quite right, but everyone else says it’s fine. So I want you to see if you can spot any issues.”

Hearing this, Lin Nanxun nodded softly, took the folder from him, opened it, and began to study the contents carefully. After looking through a few pages, her delicate face furrowed in concentration.

“Do you have any suggestions?” Luo En asked quickly when he saw her expression.

Lin Nanxun pointed to a rendering on the page and spoke in a quiet voice, “If the diamonds on this necklace were a bit smaller, I think it would look even better.”

Luo En looked down at the necklace in the picture, and then a look of sudden realization crossed his face. “So that’s it—the problem was here all along.”

He’d always felt that something was off about the necklace, though it seemed fine at first glance. Only now, after her remark, did he realize the proportions were odd.

“For this bracelet, I think a light green gemstone would be better than the red one,” she added.

“That makes perfect sense,” Luo En nodded in agreement. After all, spring is the season when everything comes alive with green; using a bright red would seem too bold and out of place, while a fresh, pale green would inspire a feeling of delight.

——Knock, knock.

At that moment, someone tapped on the office door.

“Come in,” Luo En said absently, standing beside Lin Nanxun without glancing up.

The door opened, and Ye Ning, who had just left not long before, walked in carrying a cup of coffee. Luo En glanced at her and waved his hand dismissively, “I don’t have time for coffee right now, take it out.”

But to his surprise, Ye Ning walked right past him to Lin Nanxun, and smiled warmly at her. “I finished my yogurt, so I made you a cup of black tea. I hope you like it.”

Luo En felt a bit awkward at that.

Lin Nanxun looked up at the cup of tea placed before her, took in the refreshing aroma—it was a gentle scent, reminiscent of the tea fragrance she associated with her protector.
