Lin Nanxun ate her breakfast with refined manners, finishing every bite in small mouthfuls before downing the glass of milk in one go.

"I'm full." She set down her glass, a satisfied smile blooming on her face.

Seeing that she had finished, Shen Hanzhi, who had been sipping tea for a long while, set his own cup aside and cast a glance in her direction.

"There is something I need to tell you." He pursed his thin lips and spoke with his usual composed demeanor.

Upon hearing that he had something to tell her, Lin Nanxun immediately sat up straight, attentive and ears pricked to catch his next words.

"I have to go on a business trip to City Z for a few days, about three days or so."

He was always incredibly busy at the end of every year, constantly traveling to inspect the branches and subsidiaries of his various enterprises. This year was no exception, though the frequency of his trips had decreased significantly compared to previous years. He had begun delegating non-essential matters to his vice presidents or subordinate executives.

A business trip...

"..." Upon hearing these words, Lin Nanxun, who had been sitting obediently in her chair, froze, looking at him in astonishment. It took a long moment for her to snap out of it; the happy expression on her pretty face instantly faded into disappointment.

This meant that for the next three days or so, she would not be able to see the bad guy when she returned home. The thought left a hollow, aching feeling in her chest.

Noticing the shift in her expression, as if she might break into tears at any second, Shen Hanzhi felt a tightening in his heart. A flicker of uncharacteristic awkwardness crossed his handsome face, and he suddenly added, "I might be able to return a day early."

However, even with this promise, the expression on Lin Nanxun's face did not brighten.

"Miss Lin, this work is quite important, so the boss must go to City Z. Aunt Xu will be staying here with you for the next few days," Zhou Bei chimed in to comfort her, though he wasn't entirely sure if this counted as comfort.

Listening to them, Lin Nanxun nodded gently, finally accepting the reality of the situation.

"I understand."

Although she would find it hard to get used to the bad guy being away for a few days, she now had a mobile phone to call him whenever she wanted. Plus, with Ye Ning and the bearded man by her side, she felt a little less reluctant to let him go.

Seeing her accept the news so quickly, Shen Hanzhi was slightly surprised, his brows furrowing ever so slightly.

"Boss, it is time to depart." Zhou Bei checked the time and reminded him in a low voice.

The boss had been waiting here for Miss Lin, and they were already nearing their scheduled departure time.

"Hmm." Shen Hanzhi pressed his thin lips together, stood up from his chair, and walked out of the dining room.

Lin Nanxun followed him all the way to the entrance.

Several cars were parked outside. Since he was going out of town, he was traveling with Zhou Bei and a few bodyguards to meet up with the rest of his staff at the airport.

Zhou Bei walked over and opened the rear door of one of the cars. Shen Hanzhi reached the vehicle but did not get in immediately. Instead, he turned around to look at Lin Nanxun, who had followed him to the threshold.

"Remember to listen to Aunt Xu, and do not go off with anyone else!" he reminded her with a stern expression.

Lin Nanxun nodded obediently. Seeing this, Shen Hanzhi pursed his lips in satisfaction and turned to get into the car.

But just as he was about to step inside, the girl standing at the doorway could finally hold back no longer; she ran over to him, reluctant to see him leave.
