Chapter 127: Lost Count of How Many Times It Has Been
The tension that had been tightly wound gradually eased without her realizing it, and before long, she fell into a deep sleep...
Because she was a little tired yesterday, Lin Nanxun slept soundly through the night and woke up later than usual today. After a refreshing sleep, she groggily opened her eyes and instinctively leaned closer to the side beside her.
But the space beside her was empty.
She was momentarily taken aback. Had the scoundrel gone to work so early?
After lingering in bed for two more minutes, she got up to change and freshen up.
Passing by the sofa, she saw a man lying there—it was the scoundrel. The man was sleeping on his side, his handsome profile tinged with a trace of exhaustion.
On the coffee table lay his laptop and two folders he had used last night.
Lin Nanxun immediately understood that he must have been working late again.
With that thought, a hint of worry crossed her face as she glanced at his uncovered body.
He might catch a cold sleeping like this...
Her grandmother used to say that her tall, burly grandfather never took care of his health, and though he had always been strong after her grandmother passed away, he eventually succumbed to a simple cold...
With these thoughts, she hurried back to the bed, took her own blanket, and returned to the sofa. She gently covered him with the blanket and stood by, watching him carefully. Still feeling uneasy, she went to the small walk-in closet, found a thick, oversized down jacket, and draped it over him.
That should keep him warm enough.
A relieved and satisfied smile appeared on Lin Nanxun’s face.
Not wanting to disturb his rest, she quietly went to the bathroom and closet to gather her toiletries and clothes. Then, she carefully left the room, closing the door behind her.
Morning.
Zhou Bei, as usual, arrived at the lakeside villa to wait for Shen Hanzhi. He waited downstairs for a long time but saw no sign of his boss.
He glanced at his watch, frowning in puzzlement.
In the past two months, this was already the nth time…
His boss seemed to be leaving later and later each day.
Zhou Bei never understood why. After some thought, he decided to head upstairs to the bedroom to check.
Just as Zhou Bei was going upstairs, he met Lin Nanxun coming down.
“Good morning, Miss Lin,” Zhou Bei greeted politely.
Lin Nanxun stopped in her tracks and looked at Zhou Bei as he walked toward Shen Hanzhi’s bedroom.
Zhou Bei knocked on the bedroom door but received no reply.
Puzzled, he knocked again twice, but still no response.
Curious, he opened the door—and found the room completely empty.
Surprised, Zhou Bei stepped out and looked toward Lin Nanxun waiting at the staircase, quickly asking,
“Miss Lin, have you seen the boss? Has he gone out?”
Caught off guard by the question, Lin Nanxun thought of the scoundrel still asleep and hesitated a moment before shaking her head.
“No, I haven’t.”
“Really?” Zhou Bei looked even more puzzled. Could the boss have gone out last night?
But that couldn’t be—he hadn’t received any notice, and the boss always took him along when going out.
