Chapter 116: I'll Take You Home
Shen Hanzhi knew better than anyone just how difficult he was to provoke.
To fight him was almost like self-harm.
Seeing Ron’s expression suddenly change, Ye Ning, who stood nearby enjoying the unfolding drama, couldn’t help but ask abruptly, “Boss, do you need my help?”
Ron glanced at her, then wore an embarrassed smile and lowered his head again to speak to Lin Nanxun.
“Disciple, you see, your master is getting old now, and my body can’t take much strain. If I get injured and end up in the hospital, that wouldn’t be good…” Ron chuckled awkwardly, fearing his disciple might think him useless, trying hard to save face.
“Here’s an idea—it’s not too late now. How about I take you out for some fun? Whatever you want to eat or buy, I’ll get it for you. I have plenty of money!”
But despite his words, Lin Nanxun’s delicate face showed no trace of joy, only a faint shake of her head.
She didn’t want to eat, nor did she want to buy anything.
Seeing her unmoved, Ron pressed on, “Or maybe I can take you home?”
The moment he mentioned going home, Lin Nanxun’s expression dimmed further.
“I don’t have a home anymore…” she murmured softly, her head lowered.
Her uncle didn’t want her anymore; the villain hated her too…
She had foolishly believed that being with the villain meant she had a home—forgotten was the fact that she had no home, had long since lost it…
Ever since her mother set their house on fire, her home had turned to ashes.
---
“This…” Ron was taken aback.
Ye Ning, noticing this, couldn’t help but say, “Did you have a fight with your family? It’s okay if you don’t want to go home. My place is spacious—you can stay with me tonight!”
Lin Nanxun was startled, then slowly lifted her head to look at Ye Ning.
“Don’t be afraid. My home is warm, and I have a soft, adorable little cat—you’ll surely like it,” Ye Ning smiled gently.
Her cozy little nest—she was certain Nanxun would love it.
Lin Nanxun gazed at the kind smile on Ye Ning’s face, lost in thought. After a moment’s hesitation, she nodded softly.
Seeing her agree, Ye Ning was delighted and quickly helped her to her feet.
Lin Nanxun, however, cradled something carefully in her arms.
“Oh, what have you been hiding all this time?” Ye Ning asked curiously.
Lowering her head, Lin Nanxun took out a cup of milk tea from her arms.
Ye Ning was surprised. “Why haven’t you drunk this milk tea yet?”
Lin Nanxun remained silent, though the sadness and disappointment on her face were unmistakable.
She had wanted to save the milk tea for the villain to drink, but he said she was childish and told her to leave…
Seeing her quiet, Ye Ning sighed and said, “It’s cold now; just throw it away. I’ll buy you a new one.”
---
Lin Nanxun looked down at the milk tea in her arms.
“It’s still drinkable…”
Her aunt used to say that wasting food would bring a thunderbolt.
When she lived at her uncle’s house, if she didn’t finish every grain of rice in her bowl, her aunt would scold her.
Seeing her insist on this, Ye Ning had nothing more to say and nodded, leaving it to her.
“Then let’s go. I’ll take you home.”
…
Outside the conference hall building.
A black business sedan was parked discreetly at the entrance.
Inside the car.
The man sitting in the backseat glanced at his phone. The screen displayed a WeChat message he had sent.
There was no reply—not even the usual obedient “Oh.”
Shen Hanzhi’s brow furrowed slightly…
