“Sir, did you forget something? Please go back and check if any luggage was left behind.”
The maid nodded and hurried back to the room to check the luggage.
Within seconds, she returned in a rush.
“Aunt Xu, I just checked. It seems nothing was left behind. All the luggage from the first floor has been loaded onto the car.”
“That’s strange,” Aunt Xu said, a puzzled expression crossing her face as she looked at the car that had returned. This was the first time something like this had happened.
After the car stopped, the door was pushed open, and Shen Hanzhi stepped out briskly.
“Sir, did you forget something?” Aunt Xu approached, confused.
Forget something?
Hearing Aunt Xu’s question, Shen Hanzhi instinctively wanted to deny it but then thought better of it and didn’t refute.
He glanced sideways at Lin Nanxun, who was still standing there, her face brightening with a smile upon his return. Clearing his throat, he asked her seriously,
“Want to come with me?”
“Scoundrel?” Lin Nanxun was stunned, looking at the man before her in surprise.
Aunt Xu was also taken aback. The master had turned back—did he want to take Miss Lin on the business trip?
Seeing that she didn’t answer immediately, Shen Hanzhi frowned and asked her again,
“Don’t want to?”
Lin Nanxun hurriedly shook her head but then, after a moment’s thought, nodded.
Shen Hanzhi’s expression darkened.
She didn’t want to go with him yet stood there watching him leave for so long?
He had thought she was reluctant to see him go…
Noticing his sour mood, Lin Nanxun quickly tried to explain,
“I… I promised Big Beard I’d go to the farm with him today…”
She had already agreed yesterday, and he had been so happy. If she didn’t go, he would be disappointed.
“A farm?” Hearing her words, Shen Hanzhi finally understood.
It was Christmas today, and the farm visit was probably an event Ron had arranged.
“Big Beard said it would help deepen camaraderie among colleagues,” Lin Nanxun nodded obediently.
Shen Hanzhi thought for a few moments, then pursed his lips and said to her,
“I’ll handle things on that end. If you don’t want to come with me, that’s fine.”
After speaking, he turned around with a serious expression, about to get back into the car.
In less than two seconds, his sleeve was tugged by a small hand.
“I… I want to…” Lin Nanxun looked up at him anxiously, afraid he would really leave.
Though she felt bad for Big Beard and the others, she still wanted to go with the scoundrel.
Shen Hanzhi stopped and looked back at the fair little hand gripping his sleeve. A faint smile flickered across his handsome face.
The next second, he turned around again, his expression returning to its usual calm.
“Get in the car,” he said coolly, glancing at her.
Relieved that he had finally agreed to take her, Lin Nanxun happily released his sleeve and obediently climbed into the back seat.
Aunt Xu took a moment to regain her composure, then covered her mouth as her eyes nearly squinted shut from smiling.
“Miss Lin, don’t worry and just go with sir. I’ll pack your luggage and send it over later; it should arrive at the hotel by tonight.”
Lin Nanxun nodded softly.
“Thank you, Aunt Xu.”
Shen Hanzhi glanced down at his watch, then got into the car.
The vehicle quickly left the lakeside villa, heading toward the airport.
