In Xue Feng's mind, a plan had already formed—a plan to divert the trouble elsewhere.

"Are we going to the cannery?" Qin Fengshan asked.

"That's right. Since your leader has targeted me, it's only fair that I go pay him a visit. But before that, we need to meet that Tier 4 mutant," Xue Feng said, a smirk playing on his lips.

"What?!"

Hearing this, Qin Fengshan nearly collapsed in sheer terror.

Go meet that Tier 4 mutant!

Was he out of his mind?

To provoke such a terrifyingly powerful monster, especially when it was surrounded by thousands of zombies?

"Don't you want revenge? Are you seriously afraid of this?" Xue Feng sneered.

"I'm not afraid!"

At the mention of revenge, Qin Fengshan gritted his teeth and roared. Even if he died, as long as he could drag the leader down with him, it would be worth it.

"Then let's go," Xue Feng nodded.

This time, Xue Feng did not summon the Doomsday Chariot. Instead, he pulled out an off-road vehicle.

Seeing the SUV, Qin Fengshan felt a wave of familiarity. Wasn't this the vehicle they had parked in front of the television station? How had it suddenly appeared out of thin air?

"You drive. Head to the city center," Xue Feng ordered.

"Alright," Qin Fengshan nodded.

These vehicles didn't have keys; they had to be hotwired. Reaching underneath the steering column, Qin Fengshan connected the ignition wires. After a few sputtered cranks, the engine roared to life, and the vehicle slowly rolled out of the Riverside Villa District.

Qin Fengshan noticed with amazement that the men, women, young, and old in the base had already sprung into action, jogging out of the area. They weren't dragging their feet or moving sluggishly. This didn't just prove that the survivors knew they were working for their own survival; it also proved that their daily rations must be excellent, giving them the physical energy to run. Otherwise, if they were starving to the bone, they wouldn't have the strength.

Qin Fengshan was certain that in two hours at most, the roads here would be completely sealed off. At the very least, zombies wouldn't be able to get in.

However, the closer they got to the city center, the more Qin Fengshan subconsciously slowed down. His mind was filled with thoughts of that terrifying Tier 4 mutant. That blood-red creature looked exactly like a blood corpse from a horror movie.

"Alright, stop here. Wait for me in the car," Xue Feng said.

"Okay!"

Qin Fengshan let out a sigh of relief. He was truly terrified of getting any closer to the center of the horde. The feeling of being surrounded by zombies was simply too horrifying. Qin Fengshan had personally witnessed many people being torn apart and eaten by zombies, including his former colleagues and friends.

"Aren't you worried I'll run away?" Qin Fengshan suddenly realized the problem.

"I'm not worried. You won't be able to," Xue Feng smiled.

He reached out and touched the center console.

*Sizzle!*

A shower of sparks flew, followed by the smell of burnt plastic and wiring.

Qin Fengshan smiled bitterly. Now he understood why Xue Feng said he couldn't run. The entire electrical system of the car was fried. If he wanted to run, he would have to rely on his own two legs. With a zombie horde about to erupt, fleeing on foot would only get him torn to shreds.

Although Xue Feng believed Qin Fengshan's words, especially the intel about the leader, he couldn't trust him blindly. That was why he disabled the vehicle.

Xue Feng didn't head toward the horde immediately. He needed to give An Xiaowei and the others time to block the roads, and allow time for Liu Jun's group to return to the base. This would take at least two hours. Otherwise, if the horde reacted, many zombies might surge toward his base. Although the perimeter of the base had electric fences, high walls, and heavy weaponry, Xue Feng couldn't take that risk.

Time passed quickly. During this time, Xue Feng closed his eyes to rest, and Qin Fengshan dared not disturb him. Fortunately for Qin Fengshan, there were no zombies around; they had likely all been drawn away by the blood corpse. This spared him the worry of being attacked while waiting.

Two hours passed.

Xue Feng opened his eyes and saw that dusk had fallen. The sky was growing dark, which meant he had to pick up the pace.

Opening the car door, Xue Feng headed straight toward the city center. The place where the horde gathered was less than two kilometers away. For Xue Feng, whose agility had reached 51, it was only a matter of a minute or two.

Before acting, however, he checked his status panel.

[Current Host Status Panel:]
Strength: 42
Agility: 51
Spirit: 31
Endurance: 50
Luck: 38 (+100)

Xue Feng realized that the rate at which his attributes increased by killing ordinary zombies was getting slower and slower. Over the past two days, he had only gained 1 point in Strength and 1 point in Spirit. It seemed the experience ordinary zombies provided was now pitifully small. Going forward, he would need to kill more mutants.

Xue Feng soon reached the edge of the zombie horde. These zombies were still in a dull, catatonic state, completely ignoring Xue Feng. They didn't pounce on him like they used to.

But Xue Feng wasn't going to be polite. The nano-axe appeared in his hand. One swing, one kill. He easily cleared out quite a few zombies along the way. These zombies were like wooden logs, letting him chop them down at will.

Xue Feng even found two Tier 1 mutants, standing blankly in place just like the rest. After severing their heads, he split them open and found two grape-sized crystal cores inside.

Just as Xue Feng was planning to search for more mutants to see if he could harvest some more, he suddenly felt a shift in the atmosphere.

Looking up, he realized that the surrounding zombies had, at some point, turned around. They were all staring at him with vicious, bloodthirsty eyes. And at the end of the road stood the Tier 4 mutant, entirely covered in a thick layer of blood.

"Have I been spotted?" Xue Feng smiled.

"Roar!!!"

A spine-chilling howl escaped the blood corpse's throat. It had been enraged by Xue Feng.

In the next second, the surrounding zombies let out the same screech. No longer dull and listless, they lunged toward Xue Feng. They ran as fast as hunting hounds, bursting with terrifying speed. In the blink of an eye, at least several hundred zombies closed in on him, some even rushing out from the adjacent streets.

"Holy crap!"

Xue Feng was startled. Although he knew the zombies were evolving step by step, becoming stronger and faster than before, he hadn't expected them to run as fast as hounds.

What was going on? Why had their speed suddenly spiked?

"Divine Firmament!"

Xue Feng pressed his hands together, and a wave of lightning erupted from his body, expanding outward in a circular shockwave. The first wave of rushing zombies was instantly knocked to the ground by the electrical pulse.

However, to Xue Feng's shock, the zombies immediately scrambled back up, completely unharmed.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Xue Feng couldn't help but cry out.
