Chapter 058: Li Dan
“Ugh!” Liu Dahua let out a low, agonized growl.
Zhao Feng sneered coldly, saying nothing.
To deal with someone as vile as Liu Dahua, one must use the most ruthless methods. Thus, Zhao Feng felt no psychological burden as he employed the Soul Control technique.
Standing behind Liu Dahua, Zhao Feng formed a series of hand seals.
A faint green aura began to gather around his palm, growing steadily deeper until it became a vivid crimson. At that moment, Zhao Feng pressed a silver needle against the back of Liu Dahua’s neck.
With a sharp motion, the needle was driven straight into Liu Dahua’s body.
His eyes rolled back, showing only the whites, bulging like copper bells.
Liu Dahua’s entire body convulsed violently, froth spilling from his mouth.
The trembling continued until, suddenly, it ceased; his eyes returned to normal.
Zhao Feng wiped the sweat from his brow, breathing a sigh of relief. “The Soul Control technique is finally complete. From now on, a single thought from me will decide his life or death. And this is merely one of its many uses…”
He tapped Liu Dahua’s head, and a slender silver needle slowly emerged from the flesh. This was the infamous Eighteen Death Needles.
“Hmph!” Zhao Feng snorted. “The Eighteen Death Needles cannot remain inside you. You’re not worthy.”
He tapped Liu Dahua’s head again. “Hey! Wake up!”
Liu Dahua groggily shook his head and came to. He rubbed the back of his head. “What happened? Why do I feel as if I’ve been beaten?”
He shook his head again, slowly rising to his feet. “Brother Zhao, what happened to me just now?”
Zhao Feng’s lips curled into a faint smile. “Nothing. I was just adjusting your body. You were too relaxed and drifted off.”
“Oh, oh!” Liu Dahua scratched his head, utterly convinced by Zhao Feng’s words.
After several encounters, Liu Dahua had realized that Zhao Feng was shrouded in mystery, his methods unfathomable, giving the sense of endless depth.
Rubbing his hands together, Liu Dahua put on a fawning smile. “Brother Zhao, um…”
“Um, um…”
“Stop mumbling and say what you need to say!” Zhao Feng’s raised eyebrow startled him.
Liu Dahua hurriedly nodded and bowed. “Yes, yes!”
He scratched his head. “Brother Zhao, has my problem been solved?”
Zhao Feng’s cold smile deepened. “It’s been dealt with. Now you’re as fierce as a wolf. But if I ever find you causing trouble again…”
“I understand, I understand!” Liu Dahua quickly assured him.
“Good,” Zhao Feng nodded coolly. “As long as you understand. You can go now.”
“Yes, yes!” Not daring to linger for another moment, Liu Dahua bolted out of the room, hurried to the door, and drove away in his golden van.
Once Liu Dahua was gone, Zhao Feng reverted to his usual harmless appearance, his face always adorned with a sunny smile.
It was already midday, nearly lunchtime.
There was a knock on Zhao Feng’s door.
He blinked. “Who is it?”
Chen Ying’s voice sounded from outside. “Zhao Feng, it’s me!”
Zhao Feng picked up a short-sleeved shirt and slipped it on—a fitted black shirt that accentuated his abs and chest.
He opened the door, and Chen Ying, waiting outside, was stunned by his appearance.
Such a handsome man, with a unique allure. He looked like a mature elder, yet there was a youthful air about him, blurring the line between reality and illusion.
Chen Ying’s gaze brushed over Zhao Feng’s chest, and her cheeks flushed unconsciously.
Zhao Feng smiled. “What’s wrong? Is there something you need?”
Chen Ying stammered, “Yes, there is something…”
Zhao Feng stroked his chin. “Let me guess! Could it be…”
“Could it be you’re moving out?” he asked.
Chen Ying nodded. “That’s just one thing.”
“What else?”
Taking a deep breath, Chen Ying said, “Zhao Feng, you know that Li Ping’s sister is my closest friend.”
Zhao Feng nodded. “I know, you’ve mentioned her before. What’s the matter?”
Chen Ying hesitated. “That beauty-preserving medicine you gave me last time—is it really precious?”
“Yes, it is. For people in the mundane world, it’s a rare treasure. But in the Immortal Sect, it’s a low-grade, common item.”
Chen Ying blinked. “Immortal Sect? I’ve heard you mention that term more than once, but I don’t understand what it means. Still, I’m determined to keep up with you.”
Zhao Feng shook his head with a wry smile. “Chen Ying, let me tell you sincerely: don’t try to understand me, and don’t try to follow me, because…”
“Because what?” Chen Ying asked innocently.
Zhao Feng shook his head again. “Nothing. Let’s talk about it later.”
“Oh! Since you won’t say, I won’t ask further,” Chen Ying replied with a smile.
“Good,” Zhao Feng said, smiling. “Tell me about Li Ping’s sister.”
“Alright. Li Ping’s sister is Li Dan, my best friend. She was born into a prominent family. But because her father wasn’t of the main bloodline, she was arranged for a marriage alliance very early on.”
Zhao Feng frowned. “Marriage alliance?”
“Yes.”
“Why didn’t Li Ping mention this to me?”
Chen Ying shook her head. “Perhaps Li Ping feels inferior about it.”
“What do you mean?”
With her head tilted, Chen Ying thought aloud. “In the Chen family, my father is from the main line, so I can control my own fate. But Li Dan is different; her father isn’t from the main line, so she can’t control hers.”
“To gain a measure of control over her destiny…”
“What happened?” Zhao Feng asked.
Chen Ying sighed softly. “To regain control over her fate, she used sulfuric acid to disfigure herself.”
“What?” Zhao Feng stared at her in shock.
Chen Ying nodded. “Yes, you heard right.”
Zhao Feng drew a deep breath. “She is truly a woman of great resolve!”
“Indeed!” Chen Ying nodded emphatically. “I feel the same as you. Li Dan is a woman of remarkable determination.”
Zhao Feng smiled. “I understand why you came to me now. Bring her here.”
“Really?” Chen Ying’s face lit up with joy.
“Oh yeah!” She jumped with excitement.
“Oh yeah, oh yeah!”
Chen Ying, overwhelmed with emotion, gave Zhao Feng a big hug.
Zhao Feng awkwardly touched his nose, embarrassed by the soft, cotton-like sensation in his arms.
He patted Chen Ying’s back. “Alright, let go. I can hardly breathe.”
“Ha ha ha!” Chen Ying laughed sheepishly, her delicate face turning bright red with shyness.
