Chapter 50: The Command of the God of War
“Hmph!”
Yuan Jie’s face darkened. “You little bastard, you know exactly what you've done!”
Zhao Feng frowned. “What did I do?”
“Hmph!”
“I knew I wasn't mistaken about you—you’re nothing but a charlatan!” Yuan Jie said furiously.
Zhao Feng sneered. “I have no time for your nonsense. Move aside!”
Yuan Jie was momentarily stunned, then retorted angrily, “You’re not just a charlatan, you’re vulgar too!”
Zhao Feng inwardly rolled his eyes, unwilling to waste words on Yuan Jie. He’d figured it out—Yuan Jie was simply someone with a screw loose.
Shaking his head, Zhao Feng walked past her.
“Stop right there!”
Suddenly, Yuan Jie lashed out without warning.
She extended her fair, slender hand, reaching for Zhao Feng’s shoulder.
But as if he had eyes on his back, Zhao Feng shifted effortlessly, dodging her attack.
Yuan Jie was surprised, but only briefly. She was confident in her abilities—after all, she was a third-rank martial artist.
She raised her powerful leg and swung it in a whip-like kick toward Zhao Feng.
Zhao Feng sneered, dodging her attack with another easy shift.
Yuan Jie was stunned.
Once could be chalked up to luck, but twice—this was no coincidence.
Yuan Jie stared fiercely at Zhao Feng. “You’re a martial practitioner, aren’t you?”
Zhao Feng shrugged. “Martial practitioner? I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t pretend—you’re definitely a martial practitioner!”
Zhao Feng rolled his eyes. “I genuinely don’t know what you mean. I need to get home.”
“Hmph!”
Yuan Jie pulled out a pitch-black token. “This is the Dragon Nation’s War God Token! Any martial practitioner who sees it must obey its orders, or else—execution without mercy!”
As she spoke, her gaze was cold and fixed on Zhao Feng.
Zhao Feng’s expression darkened. “Are you joking with me?”
Yuan Jie shook her head firmly. “No! I am not joking. I’m officially informing you now—you’ve been requisitioned by the Red Institution of Huaxia!”
Zhao Feng snorted, his tone icy. “You’d better not push me into doing something irrational.”
Yuan Jie stared coldly at him. “Are you threatening me?”
Zhao Feng shrugged. “You can take it as a threat if you like.”
Yuan Jie was momentarily speechless.
She took a deep breath, her posture arrogant. “I’m giving you a chance! Join the Red Organization, or I’ll execute you right here and now!”
Zhao Feng shook his head resolutely.
Yuan Jie’s gaze grew icy.
Suddenly, she hurled a dagger.
The blade spun rapidly, whirring as it sliced through the air toward Zhao Feng.
At this point, Zhao Feng stopped hiding his abilities.
Since his powers would inevitably be exposed, there was no reason to conceal them.
He reached out with his large hand, not even channeling his spiritual energy, and grabbed the spinning dagger effortlessly.
“Hmph!”
He snorted, releasing his grip. With a clang, the dagger fell to the floor.
Yuan Jie was utterly shocked.
She stared at Zhao Feng in disbelief. “I’m a third-rank martial artist, yet you caught my dagger so easily. That means you surpass even the third rank!”
“How is that possible?”
Yuan Jie shrieked. “How could there be someone beyond the third rank in this world?”
Zhao Feng laughed coldly. “There’s nothing impossible about it. So, do you still insist on requisitioning me?”
“I…” Yuan Jie was at a loss for words.
“Hmph!”
Zhao Feng snorted, showing no courtesy. “Get lost!”
Yuan Jie’s beautiful face flushed instantly, the red hue born of humiliation.
She fumed, “You’re humiliating me?”
Zhao Feng chuckled coldly.
Yuan Jie took a deep breath. “Such power, but no virtue!”
Zhao Feng frowned. “What do you mean?”
Yuan Jie said coldly, “You have great ability, but your character is lacking. Isn’t that the classic case of power without virtue?”
Zhao Feng laughed in exasperation. “What makes you think my character is lacking?”
“I…”
Yuan Jie suddenly recalled something embarrassing, her cheeks turning red.
“Speak!”
Zhao Feng’s voice was sharp, and he unleashed his spiritual energy.
Yuan Jie was startled, her heart trembling. She stammered, “Just now, I was outside the door. When you treated the patient, you made her undress. Who treats people like that?”
“You’re just taking advantage of respectable women!”
She finished in one breath, and Zhao Feng suddenly understood.
He laughed softly.
Zhao Feng shook his head, smiling. “I have nothing to explain. I can only say that I, Zhao Feng, walk upright and sit straight! I am not afraid of rumors, nor do I care how you see me!”
Yuan Jie snorted, her expression full of disdain.
Zhao Feng couldn’t be bothered to explain further; he turned to leave.
“Wait!”
Yuan Jie suddenly called out.
“What is it?” Zhao Feng slowly turned back.
Yuan Jie tossed the War God Token to him. “When you have time, report to Xiajing! Otherwise, you might get yourself killed!”
Zhao Feng frowned. “What do you mean?”
Yuan Jie smiled.
Her lips curled slightly. “What’s wrong? Are you scared?”
“Tch! Me, scared?” Zhao Feng replied with pride.
Yuan Jie shook her head, feeling as though Zhao Feng was just boasting.
Still, she patiently explained, “Dragon Nation established a special organization to control people like you. All special individuals must be registered, or else…”
She made a slashing gesture across her neck. “Otherwise, you’ll be eliminated!”
Zhao Feng frowned, but sensed that Yuan Jie was speaking out of concern.
He nodded. “Thank you.”
Yuan Jie shook her head. “No need! Go on, I have to investigate Wang Ze and Ah Tai.”
Zhao Feng glanced at her, hesitated, then said, “Maybe I can help.”
She shook her head. “No need. Don’t forget, I’m a third-rank martial artist—handling this is more than easy for me.”
Zhao Feng nodded. “Alright then.”
“Mm.”
Zhao Feng wasted no more words. He entered the room, picked up Nan Nan, called Li Ping, and left the Fifth Prison.
It was now six in the morning.
Li Ping drove the car, swaying along the road.
None of them had slept, so they were all exhausted and drowsy.
Zhao Feng sat in the back seat, resting his head on one hand, eyes closed. Nan Nan slept soundly in his arms. Xiang Lan sat beside him, also dozing.
Li Ping glanced at the rearview mirror and rolled his eyes. “What is this? You all sleep so comfortably, and I have to drive! Hmph!”
He angrily slammed the steering wheel.
“Sigh! Once Sister Chen Ying takes office, I can finally go home! Sigh~”
