Chapter 121: Drinking Is Harmful to the Mind
The car pulled up to a seaside villa along South Sea Road. After stopping the vehicle, Jade Zhai personally opened the door, courteously ushering Zhao Feng out.
Zhao Feng stretched out his long, slender legs, planting his feet firmly on the ground. Redfield followed closely beside him.
Bowing slightly, Jade Zhai extended her right hand. “Please,” she said politely.
Zhao Feng nodded faintly in return, a subtle gesture of acknowledgment.
The two stepped into the ocean-view villa while Redfield flopped onto the sofa.
“Heh! I’ve always wanted a villa like this by the sea!” Zhao Feng exclaimed.
Redfield rolled his eyes. “Zhao Feng, you’re an immortal cultivator—how can you be so concerned with worldly things like this?”
Redfield scoffed, unimpressed. “So what if I’m an immortal cultivator? Even immortals need to eat and sleep!”
Zhao Feng chuckled. “Eating and sleeping are necessities, yes—but they’re not the entirety of life.”
Redfield blinked. “You speak with such wisdom. Then what do you say is the whole of life?”
Zhao Feng smiled gently, appearing like a sage in that moment.
“We live in this world to experience it—to truly live. We shouldn’t be burdened by attachments,” he said thoughtfully.
Redfield frowned. “That’s rather vague. I don’t quite understand.”
Zhao Feng smiled knowingly. “Life itself is vague—too complex to be fully described.”
“Hmph,” Redfield scoffed dismissively. “You worry too much. Eat when you’re hungry, drink when you’re thirsty—don’t take things so seriously.”
Zhao Feng nodded in agreement. “You’re right.”
Rising, Redfield walked over to the wine cabinet, carefully selecting a bottle before picking up two wine glasses.
“Have a drink?” Redfield offered.
Zhao Feng shook his head. “I don’t drink.”
“Why not?”
“Alcohol isn’t good for the brain.”
Redfield rolled her eyes. “What nonsense!”
With a pop, she uncorked the bottle and poured a glass of red wine.
Swirling it gently, she downed it in one gulp. “Ah, delicious!”
Zhao Feng’s lips twitched slightly.
Noticing this, Redfield smirked. “What’s the matter? Never had wine before?”
Zhao Feng scratched his nose and nodded. “Honestly, I’ve never drunk alcohol.”
“Then how do you know it’s bad for the brain?” she teased.
“I—” Zhao Feng was at a loss for words.
Redfield laughed again as she poured another glass, then handed the used cup to Zhao Feng. “Here, try it—after all, it’s been used by your sister!”
Zhao Feng rolled his eyes.
Taking a deep breath, as if making a resolve, he decisively accepted the glass. “Alright, let me taste this wine and see what it’s like.”
He took a gentle sip. “Hmm? It’s actually quite sweet.”
A look of surprise crossed his face. “You know, this is really my first time drinking wine.”
With that, he raised the glass and drained it in one go.
“Ah, delicious!” he exclaimed.
Redfield chuckled triumphantly.
She poured another glass and filled Zhao Feng’s cup again.
“Zhao Feng, let’s toast!”
“All right!”
“Clink!”
The glasses met with a crisp, clear chime.
They smiled at each other and drained their glasses once more.
“One more round!”
“Sure!”
“Clink!”
They lost count of how many glasses they had finished; the floor was strewn with a dozen empty bottles.
By now, both were slightly intoxicated.
Zhao Feng glanced at Redfield—and to his surprise, her face had transformed into that of Wang Xiaoyun.
Startled, he said, “Sister-in-law Xiaoyun?”
Redfield blinked. “What sister-in-law Xiaoyun?”
Zhao Feng looked again, and this time her face shifted to resemble Li Dan.
“Li Dan?” he asked.
Redfield frowned. “Zhao Feng, what on earth are you doing staring at me like that?”
He shook his head and looked once more. Now her visage was that of Xiang Lan, complete with a nurturing maternal aura.
Zhao Feng frowned. “Chen Ying?”
Indeed, the face had changed to that of Chen Ying.
Next, Xia Lin, Weiwei, even Ding Lan appeared before him.
All the women he knew passed before his eyes, yet none resembled his senior sister.
A pang of sadness washed over him. “Senior sister, how I long to see you once more. But why is your likeness nowhere to be found?”
“Could it be that you want me to give up hope? Or perhaps fate intends for me to do so?”
He sighed deeply, his mind growing clearer.
Redfield frowned. “Zhao Feng, what exactly happened to you just now?”
He shook his head. “Nothing. I told you, alcohol isn’t good for the brain. Looks like I was right.”
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
“Who is it?” Redfield called.
Outside, Jade Zhai’s voice came through. “Your Majesty Jiao Hong, I am here to escort you to the gathering!”
“Alright, coming!” Redfield replied.
She glanced at Zhao Feng. “Are you going?”
He thought for a moment before answering, “I’ll go take a look—maybe to clear my mind.”
Redfield rolled her eyes dramatically. “Drinking really does mess with your brain—already forgotten your earlier resolve!”
Zhao Feng shot her a fierce glare, then strode out ahead.
The two left the villa, where a maroon Land Rover Range Rover was parked by the roadside.
The deep red vehicle radiated an aura of dominance and flamboyance.
Jade Zhai personally opened the rear door, and Zhao Feng didn’t hesitate, striding in with his long legs.
Redfield, clad in a red dress, lifted her skirt slightly and climbed in as well.
“Heh heh heh,” Jade Zhai chuckled softly as she took the driver’s seat and drove off.
At this moment, Redfield wore a mask, concealing her features; only Zhao Feng’s face was visible—though it still bore the likeness of Xiang Tao.
Jade Zhai glanced into the rearview mirror, her gaze lingering on Zhao Feng’s face.
“Is something wrong?” he asked, frowning.
“Heh heh heh,” Jade Zhai laughed. “Today in South Sea Road, I saw someone who looked just like you—I almost mistook them for you!”
Zhao Feng understood immediately—this must have been the real Xiang Tao.
He smiled inwardly. “Xiang Tao, you really have come! I wonder if I’ll see you at the gathering later.”
The Land Rover surged forward with a low hum.
Jade Zhai drove along the coastal road, revealing views of white sandy beaches, endless seas, and seaside lamps through the windows.
After about forty minutes, the car stopped beside a grand, luxurious ocean-view villa.
Jade Zhai got out and personally opened the door for Zhao Feng.
He nodded and stepped onto the red carpet with his long legs.
Redfield followed closely behind.
At this moment, they looked like supermodels.
Redfield was six feet tall, Zhao Feng nearly six-foot-three.
She wore a red dress that accentuated her strong, alluring legs.
Zhao Feng was tall and handsome; linking arms, they resembled a glamorous runway pair—envied by all who saw them.
