Chapter 102: The Captain's Identity
“Rumble!!”
In the heart of the Qinling Mountains, a torrential downpour began.
The rain fell like countless grenades, crashing relentlessly against the earth.
Raindrops pounded the ground, shrouding the mountains in a thick mist of water vapor.
Everyone huddled within the wreckage of the plane, their eyes anxiously scanning the storm outside, dreading the threat of a flash flood.
Zhao Feng sat in the farthest corner of the cabin, gazing out at the rain.
“Actually, human desires aren’t that great,” he mused softly.
“Right now, when a violent storm is raging, having a plane wreckage to shelter in feels like such a blessing.”
“It seems people are easily contented after all.”
He propped his chin on his right hand, leaning against the window, watching the rain pour down with a profound calm in his heart.
“My senior sister created three mid-Heaven rank spells inspired by the changing weather!”
“‘Snow Drifts Over the World,’ ‘Wind Sweeps the Withered Lotus,’ and ‘Eternal Serenity.’”
“Now, I can only perform ‘Wind Sweeps the Withered Lotus,’ but ‘Snow Drifts Over the World’ and ‘Eternal Serenity’ stubbornly elude me.”
*Sigh!*
“Honestly, my senior sister is extraordinary.”
“She entrusted me with all three spells she created, yet I can only manifest one.”
Zhao Feng shook his head.
He rose and stepped out of the cabin.
“Junior brother, where are you going in such heavy rain?” Du Wei’s voice called after him.
Zhao Feng clasped his hands behind his back and walked into the storm.
“I want to be alone for a while.”
Alone, he moved into the rainy night, carrying an indescribable loneliness and desolation.
*Splash!*
One foot stepped into the muddy water, and he stood still.
He tilted his head back to the sky; rain pelted his face relentlessly.
Clasping his hands behind him, a sudden surge of aura exploded from his body, straight and piercing like a sword ascending to the heavens!
*Boom!*
His spiritual energy erupted; his clothes fluttered without wind.
*Clang!*
A brilliant green light tore through the sky.
It was the Green Sword.
The small green sword swelled with the storm, instantly growing three feet long.
Zhao Feng grasped the hilt tightly and slashed with force.
“Wind Sweeps the Withered Lotus!”
*Boom! Boom!*
Countless jade-green lotus flowers burst forth around him, thousands upon thousands, swirling in a vortex.
*Pop!*
The buds blossomed into petals.
He swung his sword with great strength.
*Crash!*
A streak of emerald sword light sliced through the horizon, cutting into the distance.
*Crash!*
The ancient trees in front of him toppled in great swaths, all cleanly bisected. The cuts were smooth and mirror-like.
*Rumble!!*
The rain intensified.
With a thunderclap, the sky began to roar with thunder.
From afar, the river in the forest had grown turbulent.
A mountain flood was on the verge of breaking loose.
Zhao Feng stood halfway up the mountain, watching the raging mudslide with a cold smile.
“Eternal Serenity!”
The green sword flew forth on its own, circling him.
He seized it, gripping it with both hands, and struck down with all his might.
Instantly, a white light appeared.
The thunder ceased, the rain stopped, and the mudslide froze in place.
At this moment, everything within a ten-mile radius stood still. Even the birds in flight were suspended in midair.
The white light, like eternal time itself, struck the mudslide.
There was no earth-shattering explosion, no dazzling magical glow.
The mudslide was cleanly bisected.
Zhao Feng sheathed his longsword behind his back.
*Rumble!!*
The rain continued to fall, the wind howled, and lightning flashed, but the mudslide could not advance; it seemed to be blocked by an invisible barrier, firmly held at bay.
Zhao Feng smiled faintly.
“I’ve mastered ‘Eternal Serenity’ now; only ‘Snow Drifts Over the World’ remains.”
He turned and returned to the cabin.
That night was quiet.
No flood came, only the steady drumming of rain.
Listening to the rain’s rhythmic patter, everyone fell into a peaceful sleep.
Early the next morning, the rescue team arrived.
Over a hundred passengers wept with joy.
The rescue captain scratched his head.
“What happened? Yesterday’s weather forecast predicted a mountain flood here! We were so worried about you!”
The crowd blinked in surprise.
“A mountain flood? We didn’t see anything!”
“Yeah, absolutely not!”
“Heh heh heh! It must have been divine protection!”
“Exactly!”
Most people thought so, except for two: Hong Chang and Du Wei.
They smiled knowingly, sharing a secret understanding.
There was one more exception—the captain himself.
He stood behind Zhao Feng, his eyes gleaming with a mysterious light.
Everyone returned safely to Modu.
Hong Chang and Zhao Feng departed, while Du Wei followed the captain away.
In a simple room, the captain glanced around to make sure no one was present.
He took out his cell phone and smashed it with a fierce motion.
Then he retrieved a SIM card and inserted it into an old-fashioned black phone he pulled from under the bed.
He dialed a number.
“Hello! Dragon Kingdom War God, this is code 9586. I’ve discovered a cultivator!”
“Unknown realm!”
“Identity: Xiaohe Village, Chenzhou City!”
“Sect: unknown!”
A voice replied from the other end: “You are responsible for contacting him. Bring him into our Dragon Kingdom War God team!”
The captain saluted immediately.
“Yes, sir!”
Zhao Feng knew nothing of this.
At that moment, he was attending a banquet with Li Ping.
Present were Li Dan, Li Ping, Hong Chang, and Zhao Feng.
This banquet was hosted by a wealthy second-generation heir in Modu.
Originally, Zhao Feng had no desire to come, nor did Li Dan.
But Hong Chang seemed to adore lively gatherings and insisted on dragging Zhao Feng along upon hearing there was a party.
The banquet took place in the Ximan Hotel.
By now, many young socialites and affluent heirs had gathered.
Modu was a large city, one of the few emblematic metropolises of the Dragon Kingdom.
On the second floor banquet hall of Ximan Hotel, Zhao Feng sat alone in a corner, quietly eating from the buffet.
Hong Chang, seemingly possessing the spirit of a karaoke queen, stood on stage clutching a microphone, singing.
To be honest, her voice left much to be desired.
After each song, she would come over to Zhao Feng and ask, “Did you like my singing?”
Zhao Feng could only stuff food into his mouth and respond perfunctorily, “It was great, really great!”
Whenever he said “great,” Hong Chang would laugh warmly, “You have such good taste!”
At those moments, Zhao Feng would roll his eyes inwardly.
As for Li Ping, he was already smitten by many beautiful women, unable to move.
Only Li Dan remained quiet.
She sat beside Zhao Feng, propping her chin in her hands, watching him eat in silence.
*Burp!*
Zhao Feng stretched and let out a satisfied belch.
“This is so boring!”
He rubbed his nose, sighing.
Seeing Zhao Feng stop eating, Li Dan smiled and asked, “Can you dance?”
Zhao Feng shook his head.
“I’ll teach you!” Li Dan said with a smile.
