Chapter 88: If They Harm Me Again, Eradicate Them Completely
After leaving the principal’s office, Shen Chutang returned to her own office and began checking the students’ homework.
The children had made remarkable progress. It was thanks to her insistence on extra evening lessons that their exam papers were no longer a wasteland of blank sheets.
After reviewing the papers, Shen Chutang immediately prepared a new set of math and English tests, printed them, and headed to the classroom.
The moment she entered, she noticed something was off. Every student wore an expression of indignation, as if the words “I want a duel” were practically stamped on their foreheads.
She set the test papers down. “You have one minute to collect yourselves. Next, we’ll have a test. Full score is 150. Anyone who scores below passing will have to do an extra paper today.”
Luo Shencheng, still brimming with youthful vigor, stood up. “Boss, I don’t want to take a test today. Someone’s been slandering you at school. We should demand an explanation and find out who’s spreading those rumors!”
“That’s right!”
“We’ll find them and make them kneel and apologize!”
“We can’t let our boss suffer such injustice for nothing!”
Shen Chutang watched their righteous anger. Only after they’d finished did she speak. “And then?”
Luo Shencheng was taken aback. “And then?”
“All this fuss over a baseless post—is it really worth your time and energy?” Shen Chutang looked at the group of students. “Remember, your primary task is the college entrance exam. Seize every moment and every place you can to study. Do you understand?”
Guan Zhenzhen couldn’t help but protest, “But the things they said were so cruel.”
Shen Chutang smiled. “I simply don’t look at it. Besides, if a dog bites me, I’m not going to bite it back, am I?”
Luo Shencheng was still indignant. “Boss, you’re just going to swallow this insult?”
She handed the test papers to the students in the front row. “If people don’t trouble me, I don’t trouble them. If people do, give them three chances. If they persist, cut the problem off at the root.”
As she said this, anticipation lit up on the others’ faces. They were all curious to see how their boss would “cut the problem off at the root!”
But what awaited them now were the math and English tests, and they set about answering every question they could.
Once again, they finished a test in half an hour.
This time, their accuracy had improved. Their foundations were weak, but with the help of tutors and relentless practice, they’d become familiar with every type of question, raising their accuracy.
Just half a month ago, none of them could pass. Now, the pass rate had increased by half.
Shen Chutang analyzed the papers and had those who failed come forward to collect an extra test.
No one complained. Some even secretly bought “Three Years of College Entrance Exams, Five Years of Practice” and worked through the exercises on the sly, afraid someone would see their secret efforts.
Some made excuses to go to the school shop, then hid away to do practice questions.
Some claimed they were going to the restroom to smoke, but actually hid in the stalls to brush up on question types.
Some pretended to play games but were actually watching online courses on their phones.
Eventually, when everyone realized they’d all bought the same materials, they brought them out openly.
“Oh, you only scored 80 on this? I got 95!”
“We already learned this one last time—how could you still not get it? Just wait until the boss scolds you!”
“Come on, let me teach you. I did this one last night, I know it inside out!”
Who would have believed that, just half a month ago, these were the same students who wouldn’t even look at their textbooks?
The next period was PE. While students in other classes were overjoyed, only those in Class Z were groaning in misery.
“Teacher, our time is so precious! How can we waste it on PE?”
“Exactly! Is the PE teacher sure there’s nothing to do at home and doesn’t want to take a break?”
Shen Chutang couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ve borrowed your next PE class. As for the school anniversary event we discussed before—how are your preparations? Luo Shencheng, I left this matter in your hands. Shouldn’t you show me what you’ve got?”
Luo Shencheng raised his eyebrows with a bit of swagger. “Just wait and see.”
Shen Chutang took them to the dance studio. There was a large mirror, plenty of space, and once the door was closed, no one else could enter.
Originally, Shen Chutang thought they’d just recite a poem or sing a group chorus to get by. Instead, the performances they’d prepared were taekwondo and dance.
Luo Shencheng led the boys in taekwondo, while Xue Yunlan led the girls in dance.
Xue Yunlan used to be obsessed with beauty—her backpack contained only cosmetics, never books. After class, she’d pore over fashion magazines to improve her makeup skills, with no sense of teamwork.
Who could have imagined she’d now be earnestly teaching every girl to dance?
The choreography wasn’t difficult, but they were perfectly in sync, and it looked wonderful.
Shen Chutang nodded in approval. “Very good. Thank you for your hard work, Yunlan. When it’s time for the performance, I’ll need your help with everyone’s stage makeup.”
A few girls looked at Xue Yunlan expectantly, making her a little embarrassed.
“No problem!”
