"Actually, it's nothing much. After you and Wang Ying left, Ye Qiong and the others asked me why I was still here tonight."

"And what did you say?"

Zhang Shen could already sense that the chubby guy before him might just tell the truth.

"I said I wanted to pursue Wang Ying, so I discussed it with you last night, and then I followed all the way here."

Listening to Meng Ran, Zhang Shen felt that he seemed a bit too honest in front of girls.

"And then, did Ye Qiong ask you anything else?"

Zhang Shen was already turning over thoughts in his mind—how could Ye Qiong not butt in somehow?

"She said that as long as I listened to her later, she'd put in a good word for me with Wang Ying."

Now Zhang Shen found Meng Ran utterly incomprehensible. How could he be so honest with a woman like Ye Qiong? Clearly, she was just exploiting his desire to chase Wang Ying, using it to pit him against Zhang Shen. Fortunately, the chubby guy was clever enough to kneel on the snacks before Zhang Shen returned, professing his innocence.

On the other hand, Zhang Shen understood that Meng Ran had simply been taken in by Ye Qiong's sweet talk, so he didn't hold it against him much. He said, "Seeing as this is your first offense, I'll let you off this time. But if it happens again, don't let me catch you."

Hearing Zhang Shen's lenient verdict, Meng Ran grinned cheekily, as if nothing had happened. He immediately picked up a packet of snacks from the floor, tore it open, and offered it to Zhang Shen.

"Here, Zhang, try this. It smells amazing!"

Frankly, what snack wouldn't smell amazing to Meng Ran? If they were at Wang Ying's dumpling shop tonight, the chubby guy could probably eat five big bowls by himself. And if Wang Ying were the one cooking the dumplings, who knows how much more he'd eat!

"Enough, take it away. Who said I was going to let you off so easily?"

"Zhang, do you still want..."

Zhang Shen looked at Meng Ran and said, "You really are ruthless, making me walk all the way back from the dumpling shop. Do you know it took me over an hour? You didn't even think of coming back to pick me up."

Meng Ran wanted to explain, but before he could say a word, Zhang Shen cut him off.

"Still, considering you knelt in pain on the snacks, I'm thinking about how to punish you."

"As long as I can win Wang Ying over, I'll do whatever you say!"

Meng Ran, of course, was quick to adapt. Since Zhang Shen was giving him a hard time, he figured he might as well try to get a little something in return.

"You chubby fool..."

Before Zhang Shen could finish, Meng Ran got up and repeated the same steps as last night.

Watching Meng Ran busying himself with Zhang Shen's clothes, Zhang Shen knew this guy wouldn't give up until he won Wang Ying's heart.

As Meng Ran bustled about, Zhang Shen turned his attention to the black bag in his hands.

At first glance, it seemed no different from any ordinary girl's backpack, and the brand appeared to be a generic one. Was this battered bag really going to pull a 'wolf in sheep's clothing' trick?

But judging from the panic on that girl's face earlier, it didn't seem like an act. Could there really be some hidden mechanism in this black bag?

Zhang Shen carefully unzipped the main compartment, surprised to find it empty. Was he really unlucky enough to have just picked up a worthless bag?

Unwilling to give up, he examined every zipper thoroughly. At last, when he opened the zipper at the top, he discovered a golden card inside.

He picked up the gold card and examined it closely. The card exuded an air of distinction—a golden dragon coiled across its face, and the most striking thing was the character "Dragon" embroidered on the front.

"Could the owner of this card have the surname Dragon?"

The thought crossed Zhang Shen's mind as he pondered the possibility.

Just then, Meng Ran called out, "Zhang, everything's ready. You can go in now."

Knowing the chubby guy would be out soon, Zhang Shen quickly stashed away the gold card and the black bag. To prevent Meng Ran from getting any ideas, he hurried through his shower, then climbed into bed, pondering the card's origins. He had connections with many of Yuehu City's elite, but none of them seemed related to a dragon.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Zhang Shen glanced at Meng Ran, who was still munching on snacks, and asked, "Hey, I've got a question for you."

Meng Ran looked surprised—he hadn't expected Zhang Shen to ask him anything.

"Are you talking to me?"

"Is there anyone else in this room?"

"Ask away! As long as it's about food, there's nothing I don't know!"

Zhang Shen nearly swallowed his words, but seeing Meng Ran's look, he decided to try his luck. "Do you know of any place in Yuehu City related to a dragon?"

"Dragon? You mean dragon meat?" Meng Ran's eyes lit up, making Zhang Shen think he might actually know something. But Meng Ran's next words nearly made Zhang Shen want to toss him out the window.

"I've never eaten dragon meat, but I've had pork and dog meat before."

Zhang Shen couldn't help but shout, "Get lost!"

Seeing Zhang Shen's temper flare, Meng Ran quickly tried to make amends. "Okay, okay, I'll be serious. As far as I know, there's a restaurant owner called Old Dragon Four. Supposedly, the food there is really good. Zhang, if we get the chance, we should try it together!"

At this point, Zhang Shen had no patience left for Meng Ran. He now understood that the chubby guy was only interested in food—nothing else could stir his fighting spirit.

With that thought, Zhang Shen ignored Meng Ran's noisy chatter and pulled the covers over his head, drifting off to sleep.

And so, the night passed in silence.

The next morning, as Zhang Shen opened his eyes, he immediately sensed a large figure looming above him.

He blinked and, upon closer look, let out a startled cry.

"You idiot, why aren't you sleeping? What are you doing standing next to me?"

Meng Ran grinned mischievously. "Zhang, I was telling the truth last night. If you don't believe me, I'll show you something."
