Volume Four: Renowned Across the Lands Chapter 106: This Is My Brother
The night was brilliant and beautiful. Inside the nightclub, explosive music blared, and the streets were packed with people.
A slightly tipsy man swayed from side to side, his arm draped around a woman’s waist, taking liberties without restraint. The woman didn’t mind in the slightest; if anything, she seemed to relish the ambiguous intimacy, finding it intoxicating.
Standing by the window, Qin Yang took it all in.
There were three brothers: Wang Qiang, the eldest; Qin Yang, the third; and Zhou Ming, the youngest. Each held a bottle of beer. Truth be told, today was a particularly joyous occasion. Qin Yang had been drinking quite heavily, but perhaps due to his constitution, he seemed impossible to intoxicate.
Wang Qiang grumbled, "Little Four, talk some sense into the third brother. You didn't see him when I first met him—his face was covered in grime, his clothes were in tatters, and yet he was still planning to leave in a few days to head back to that godforsaken place."
Zhou Ming, unaware of these circumstances, looked at Qin Yang upon hearing this. "Third Brother, is that true?"
"Little Four, don't listen to the eldest’s nonsense," Qin Yang replied. "That was just an accident. I’m doing quite well here in Bincheng."
The two clearly didn't believe his tall tale. They had known Qin Yang for four years and knew him to be the type who would suffer through anything just to save face.
"Third Brother, if things aren't working out, come with me to the city. I won't say you'll be a high-ranking official, but I can certainly get you a job as a police auxiliary—that’s absolutely no problem."
Watching the two of them refuse to believe a word he said, Qin Yang found he couldn't explain himself even if he wanted to.
*Knock, knock, knock!*
At that moment, a knock sounded at the door. A waiter looked at Wang Qiang as if he had finally found his backbone. "Boss Qiang, it’s bad. Knife-Brother is here."
Wang Qiang’s expression shifted. Of all the times for this bastard to show up, he had to pick the moment his brothers were visiting to collect debts. Wasn't this an intentional attempt to humiliate him?
"Knife-Brother?" Zhou Ming was clearly familiar with the name. "You mean Hu Yidao, the number one bully in town?"
"Since he's here to pick a fight, we have to go meet him, no matter what."
Zhou Ming took his beer and headed downstairs. Qin Yang, curious to see who was arrogant enough to stir up trouble the moment the three brothers reunited, followed. He had intended to hold them back, but found they had already descended.
In the main hall, a dozen men stood looking fierce and menacing. At the head of the pack was a middle-aged man with a brutal appearance, holding a beautiful woman in his arms.
"Haha, Wang Qiang, hurry up and pay! I have to get to the next place!" Hu Yidao said without a shred of courtesy, smoking a cigarette and kneading the woman’s hip as he laughed wantonly.
Zhou Ming squinted, placed his beer on the bar, and sat down across from Hu Yidao. "You’re the number one bully of Sanmiao County, Hu Yidao?"
Hu Yidao looked at Zhou Ming, his brows knitting together. The scar on his face twisted like a hideous centipede, looking terrifyingly savage.
"Oh, well, well. Isn't this the director of the Beihai High-Tech Zone Police Station? What’s the matter? Does Sanmiao County fall under your jurisdiction now?" Hu Yidao retorted, showing no respect whatsoever.
Zhou Ming wasn't the green officer he used to be, easily intimidated. He snorted coldly, "Hu Yidao, even if I’m not in charge here, you’d better remember this: Wang Qiang is my brother. Causing trouble here is an insult to me. Let me give you a piece of advice: you can offend anyone, but you’d best not offend the police."
Hu Yidao chuckled upon hearing this. "Oh? Threatening me?"
"Listen, kid, don't think that just because you’re a station director you’re someone special. Believe it or not, I can make sure you never walk out of Sanmiao County."
"That sounds pretty tough!" Qin Yang, having shaken off Wang Qiang’s arm, arrived just in time to hear this. "Knife-Brother, right?"
"You're so full of yourself—does your family know?"
The surrounding crowd exchanged glances. For years, anyone who dared to show disrespect to Hu Yidao would inexplicably be found slashed the next day. Because of this, no one dared to provoke him.
"How dare you talk to Knife-Brother like that? I’ll finish you!" Hearing Qin Yang’s arrogant words, a lackey rushed forward and swung a machete wildly.
Though Qin Yang’s meridians were currently damaged and he couldn't channel his internal energy, that didn't mean he was weak. He watched the machete, which was as hard as raw iron, and slapped it away before kicking the lackey flying. His movements were not only swift but incredibly sharp.
*Hiss!*
Seeing the machete completely deformed and the lackey lying on the ground, unconscious or worse, the crowd gasped.
Hu Yidao stood up abruptly, his eyes dark and uncertain. Using a hand to deflect a blade—wasn't that suicidal? Thinking of something, his face suddenly bloomed with a smile. He quickly offered an apology, "Oh, brother, what a skill! Today’s incident was my fault, brother. We’ll be leaving now, okay?"
As Hu Yidao prepared to lead his men away, a cold voice echoed through the hall. "What’s this, Knife-Brother? You interrupted our business, and now you want to just walk away?"
"Remember, this is my brother. Tell me, how are we going to settle this?"
Hu Yidao looked at Qin Yang, realizing the man was a master. He had intended to fetch reinforcements, but seeing the current situation, he knew he wouldn't be leaving without giving them an explanation.
"Wang Qiang, this is your brother? Isn't he a bit too wild? Does he not know who I have backing me?"
Wang Qiang’s face was grim. Of course he knew who stood behind Hu Yidao—they were notorious for their dirty tactics, and they owned martial arts schools in both Sanmiao County and Beihai City.
"Third Brother, let's just leave it at that," Wang Qiang said, his face full of resignation. It was a surrender to power, a surrender to money.
Qin Yang waved him off and kicked Hu Yidao. The surrounding lackeys were stunned. In the past, whenever Knife-Brother made such threats, everyone would respectfully see them off. What was happening today?
"Eldest Brother, remember one thing: don't go looking for trouble, but don't be afraid of it either. If something happens, your brother has your back."
Zhou Ming looked at his third brother, confused. In the past, Qin Yang’s physical fitness was decent, but never this formidable. This aura—this sense of "who else but me"—where did it come from? Was his third brother really just a miner?
*Hell,* since when were miners this terrifying? Don't joke around.
Qin Yang stepped on Hu Yidao’s chest. None of the lackeys dared to move closer; especially after Qin Yang’s gaze swept over them, they involuntarily stepped back. It was pure fear.
"Knife-Brother, how shall we settle this?"
Hu Yidao, no longer able to play the big bad wolf, had only one thought: get out of here, find help, and get his revenge.
"Brother... no, Master, you masters, I was wrong! There’s ten thousand here..."
*Thud!*
"Ten thousand? Are you trying to pay off a beggar?"
Hu Yidao was kicked away again, blood spraying from his mouth. It was a humiliation—an absolute humiliation. Trembling, he pulled out a bank card and placed it on the table, eyeing Qin Yang cautiously, fearing he might anger him further. "Master, there is one hundred thousand in here."
"The password is six sixes."
Seeing Qin Yang pick up the bank card, Hu Yidao breathed a slight sigh of relief. But then, he saw Qin Yang place the card back on the table, and he nearly wept. "Master, I really don't have any more!"
"Get lost!"
