Chapter 103: Hunting the World (Fourth Update)
Having settled on a target, there was no need to rush into action.
This matter involved far too much. If even the slightest mistake was made, it would surely provoke a ferocious backlash from the beast hordes, so preparations had to be thorough. After fixing a rough date and discussing the matter of the domain in some detail, Qin Ming took his leave.
He once again withdrew into seclusion.
Day after day, he refined spiritual liquid without pause, steadily raising his cultivation.
As for the Crushing Fist, the domain, and his comprehension of the laws of space, all of that was set aside on the enlightenment platform of the other world.
In the second month, Yang Hui came to pay a visit.
“You really do have it easy,” Yang Hui said after taking a seat and sipping his tea. “Seeing you makes me realize I really am getting old.”
“At the Battle God level, living a hundred years or so comes easily enough,” Qin Ming said with a smile. “Uncle Yang, you teach at the elite training camp. What brings you all the way here?”
“I’ve found another promising seedling.”
“Oh? That’s wonderful news.”
“Mm. Care to guess who it is?”
“Uncle Yang, how am I supposed to guess?”
“Haha, true enough. But if I give you one more hint, I’m afraid you’ll know right away. It’s one of your high school classmates. Do you know who I mean?”
“Luo Feng!”
“That’s right, him. What do you think of that boy?”
“Luo Feng? His talent is excellent.” A strange light flickered in Qin Ming’s eyes. “His family background is ordinary, and neither of his parents are martial artists, yet he possesses astonishing talent. Even back when I was still at school, he was already an advanced student. He also has remarkable tenacity and a steadfast will. He’s an excellent seedling indeed. But given his current circumstances, he probably still doesn’t meet the camp’s requirements, does he?”
“That boy’s burst of progress has been frighteningly fast. Though he can’t compare with you, he’s still a genius,” Yang Hui said. “I just pulled his records from the hall. A month and a half ago, his physical condition had already reached the mid-level battle general rank, and he had already grasped the third form of the Ninefold Thunder Blade.”
“He’s improved that quickly? Uncle Yang, what arrangement is being made?”
“The elite training camp is already full, but his talent is impressive, and since he’s your classmate, he should be able to enter by exception.”
“Let’s do it by the rules,” Qin Ming said. “Have a drink first, and go in the afternoon?”
“No need.” Yang Hui shook his head. “It’s better to settle this sooner rather than later. As for wine, just prepare two bottles for me. I know you’ve got plenty of good stuff here.”
“I may not have much else, but I’ve got plenty of wine,” Qin Ming said with a laugh. “Uncle Yang, I’ll go with you to see Luo Feng as well. We haven’t seen each other in months. It’s rare to have the chance.”
“Good.”
After leaving two cases of wine in the hall, the two of them boarded a combat aircraft and departed.
This time, Yang Hui had come by passenger aircraft, without the special treatment he had once received when inviting Qin Ming.
In the wilderness, among a stretch of ruins, the hunting Luo Feng had already been found by Hall Master Zhou Zhengyong, Zhuge Tao, and the others who had arrived earlier.
When they saw the combat aircraft approaching, their eyes lit up.
“Inspector Qin!”
Zhou Zhengyong, Zhuge Tao, and the others were all exceedingly respectful.
This was the difference that status made.
Luo Feng, meanwhile, looked at Qin Ming with a particularly complicated expression.
Qin Ming greeted them casually before saying, “Luo Feng is my classmate. I heard from Uncle Yang that he may be entering the elite training camp, so I came to have a look and catch up a little.”
“With Luo Feng’s talent, there’s certainly no problem with him joining the elite training camp,” Zhou Zhengyong and Zhuge Tao said. These old foxes were sure of it: Luo Feng’s admission was all but guaranteed.
Being Qin Ming’s classmate already added a considerable number of points.
Now that he had personally shown up, even Hong would have to give him some face.
“Luo Feng, how have you been lately?” Qin Ming asked, neither confirming nor denying anything.
“Pretty good. Hunting beasts, improving step by step. It’s been a full life, I suppose. It’s just that compared with you, I’m still far behind.”
His tone was tinged with emotion.
“I merely got a head start,” Qin Ming said meaningfully. “You, on the other hand, possess a talent others do not. Catching up to me is only a matter of time.”
Luo Feng was stunned. His heart pounded wildly, yet he could only smile bitterly. “You’re already an inspector. How am I supposed to catch up? The gap will only grow wider.”
“Enough of that. How’s Wei Wen doing?”
“That boy? He’s gone to university, and it seems he even has a girlfriend now.”
“That’s good too. With the two of us looking out for him, no one will dare bully him. By the way, have you confessed?”
“Uh, that, well...” Luo Feng stammered awkwardly.
“Ran into some resistance?” Qin Ming laughed. “A genius counts for little in the Xu family; a battle general wouldn’t interest them either. But once you enter the elite training camp, they’ll see you in a completely different light. If necessary, I can even help arrange the match. I doubt they’d dare refuse.”
His words were calm, yet full of overwhelming confidence.
“No, no, no, don’t get involved!” Luo Feng hurriedly shook his head. “If you step in, the whole thing will change. Still, I do have to say thank you.”
“No need to stand on ceremony.” Qin Ming patted his shoulder. “Without matching strength, even a reunion between classmates can feel awkward. Luo Feng, work hard. I look forward to the day when you can truly stand tall, just like we once did. Strength brings confidence. Strength brings the right to speak.”
With that, he called out and stepped through the air back onto the combat aircraft, then returned home.
“Inspector Qin is right. Strength does bring confidence, and it does bring the right to speak,” Zhuge Tao said with a sigh. “Last year, the inspector did not yet have this kind of confidence. Now, even I feel nervous in his presence. Luo Feng, the opportunity is right before you. You must seize it.”
“Mm!” Luo Feng nodded heavily.
Above Bright Moon Residence, the combat aircraft hovered motionless.
It had already become a striking sight, and many residents within the city came to the area around the community to watch.
Qin Ming sat cross-legged inside the aircraft and once again sank into cultivation.
Each day, the weight of his aura deepened.
For a planetary-level martial artist, improvement was extremely difficult.
Across the world, there were only a few dozen planetary-level warriors. Most were only at planetary level one, and those at planetary level two were already rare; as for level three, there were only two or three at most.
Hong was planetary level six, and Ray God was planetary level seven, standing supreme across the globe. That was also part of the reason for their immense prestige. Even for those two, further advancement was tremendously difficult.
Needless to say, it was even harder for everyone else.
Yet Qin Ming was different. His aura grew stronger every single day.
That day, Hong called.
“It can begin. Come to headquarters first.”
“Alright.”
Qin Ming’s blood began to boil faintly.
Real combat and killing were far more thrilling than the virtual realm.
After bidding farewell to his parents, he took the combat aircraft and quickly arrived at the global headquarters of the Extreme Martial Arts Hall, where Ray God was already present as well.
“The world’s base cities are all in first-level wartime readiness. Supplies and the like have already been allocated. The martial gods from all factions are in place, and the council members are standing guard. Everything is ready,” Hong said directly. “Next, it’s up to the three of us.”
“All arranged? Will those council members really cooperate?” Qin Ming asked in slight surprise.
Only two months had passed since he had taken up the post of inspector, yet all preparations were already complete. The speed was truly remarkable.
After all, this was global wartime readiness, taken just in case.
“If they won’t cooperate, then they’ll die,” Hong said coldly. “At a critical moment, anyone who drags us down dies.”
“It’s fine if they have a few little schemes. But at a time like this, if they still dare make trouble? Hah.” Ray God’s killing intent was fully exposed.
“That’s good.” Qin Ming nodded.
Both of these men had come through the Great Nirvana Era. They had endured countless dangers and countless battles before finally achieving what they had today.
The more one had seen, the colder one often became.
Qin Ming had not yet realized that he too now possessed the same temperament.
“How are we going to do this?” he asked.
“The beast hordes are divided into two major camps, one in the sea and one on land. This time, we’re dealing with the beast kings on land and above,” Ray God said. “The key targets are two. I told you about them in Australia before: the Snow Condor in the Arctic and the Scorpion Emperor in the Sahara Desert. Both are pseudo-emperor level. One specializes in speed, the other in burrowing. On top of that, they each live in extreme environments, making them extremely hard to kill. As long as we deal with those two, the rest will not be a threat. Third Brother, which one should we kill first?”
“The Snow Condor,” Qin Ming said after a brief pause. “The Arctic is bitterly cold, and beasts are sparse there. When we surround it, the risk of news being spread will be reduced.”
“That matches our own thinking exactly. Then the Snow Condor it is,” Hong said with a nod.
