Chapter One Hundred: Hong's Shock (Requesting Subscriptions for the First Chapter)
The shock was overwhelming, unlike anything before.
This time, Qin Ming was truly stunned.
The rat tide he had seen last time was made up of little things. Though countless and swarming like a dark flood, they were too small to be truly intimidating.
But now, from the ocean crawled dense masses of sea beasts, every one of them several meters tall at the least, many of them ten or more meters high. Among them were even two commander-level great white sharks that had evolved a pair of legs and stood upright at a height of nearly a hundred meters.
Everywhere he looked, there were only sea beasts.
The coastal defense base was a war fortress built at the mouth of the sea. To hold back the beasts, its walls were cast in alloy, yet even so, the defense was strained to the breaking point.
Cannons, flames, strong acid, and all manner of weapons were deployed, but what use was it to wipe out a few thousand at a time?
There were simply too many sea beasts. As Li Dawei had once said, even killing a hundred million would still be no more than a drop in the ocean.
“My only task is to kill every sea beast above commander level.” Qin Ming stepped out of the fighter and issued his order. “Xiao Qiang, open fire freely. Hunt the sea beasts!”
“Yes, Master!”
As the electronic voice sounded, Qin Ming flew off.
At the same time, Zhou Zhengyong of the Limit Martial Hall in Jiangnan Base City, the head of the Thunder Martial Hall, and others had also received the call for aid and were racing over at full speed.
Yet their pace was clearly far slower than Qin Ming’s.
The East Sea beast tide was being filmed from multiple angles, even broadcast through satellites, and had already spread across the world. No matter the country, no matter the color of one’s skin, everyone was watching with tense attention.
Though it had erupted in one region, it was pulling the whole world into its wake.
At the headquarters of the Limit Martial Hall, Hong and Thunder God sat on a sofa before a live projection.
“See? I told you that kid would go,” Thunder God said with a laugh, pointing at Qin Ming in the screen. “He doesn’t hesitate when righteousness is on the line!”
“With justice before him, there is no room to retreat. That is principle.” Hong said. “Hm? Look, he’s flying, not using Sky-Step. Could he already have entered the planetary level?”
“Planetary level?” Thunder God’s spirits lifted as he looked more carefully. “It really is! H-how, how did he reach planetary level so quickly? His physical stats are indeed absurd, but this is still far too outrageous.”
“He’s a genius,” Hong said, unable to suppress a sigh.
“A peerless genius, the only one in the world!” Thunder God stroked his bald head and said, “Before planetary level, he could already slay king-level beasts. So now? I’m afraid even if that nine-tailed fox is still alive, it can no longer do anything to him.”
“Let’s wait and see what other surprises he can give us,” Hong said with a nod.
Qin Ming flew instead of using Sky-Step, and at that moment, nearly all the powerful watchers across the globe noticed it.
Li Yao noticed it too, and his expression changed at once.
“Planetary level?”
The words were squeezed from between his teeth.
He had once wanted to find a chance to teach this boy, who had embarrassed him, a lesson. Now it seemed nearly impossible.
Forget teaching him a lesson; now, even revenge was becoming a fantasy.
“Damn it. I never managed to get anything useful out of his mouth before, and now I’ll have even less chance. I can only hope the one who killed my son wasn’t him, otherwise—otherwise...”
Li Yao closed his eyes, feeling powerless for the first time.
On another side, Councilor Yan Hai drew in a sharp breath.
“Planetary level?”
He forced the words out through clenched teeth.
He had originally wanted to find an opportunity to deal with this upstart who had humiliated him. Looking at it now, that was almost certainly impossible.
The most shocked of all was Luo Feng at home.
Watching the discussion online, he saw Qin Ming described as the youngest richest man, the youngest invincible battle god, and now the youngest super-god. He had also created astonishing secret techniques such as Sky-Step.
“In April this year, he was still at school. Back then he was only an intermediate student. And in just this short time, he’s already a super-god? A councilor?”
“I thought that after awakening as a spiritual mind master, my cultivation had advanced by leaps and bounds, and that I had developed an unprecedented arrogance in my heart. But compared with this classmate of mine, the gap really is more than a little bit.”
Luo Feng sighed.
“In a few days, I should go out hunting again. Only through life-and-death combat can I unleash my potential and improve faster.”
High above the East Sea, Qin Ming’s appearance quickly drew attention in all directions.
Naturally, he did not know it.
“They’ve actually reached the city walls?”
Qin Ming saw a lobster, a red lobster over forty meters tall, brandishing two enormous claws. With a single strike, it tore a long gash in the alloy wall.
A torrent of bullets poured down, only to be bounced away. Not even a mark was left on its shell.
A battle general rushed up close, only to be blown apart by the lobster in midair.
In the next instant, it leaped into the sky, clearly intending to massacre the people within the city.
The soldiers on the wall panicked at once, throwing themselves forward one after another, ready to block it with their flesh and blood.
At that moment, Qin Ming came streaking across the sky.
“Die!”
The moment the word fell, the shimmering light of the S-rank Blood Shadow Battle Blade flashed out like a bolt of lightning. Qin Ming did not even look back as he sped away.
At his current speed, he could cover several thousand meters in a single second. Some battle generals had not even understood what had happened before they saw that the medium commander-level lobster had already been cut cleanly in two and fallen to the ground.
After a brief stunned silence, the defenders erupted in cheers. Then they continued their assault, firepower surging like a waterfall as they suppressed the onrushing sea beasts.
The slaughter was brutally savage. Every moment, soldiers were dying.
The thick stench of blood was enough to make one retch.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Qin Ming flew on at high speed without stopping. One commander-level sea beast after another was slain where they stood and crashed lifelessly to the ground.
With a single strike, even the towering great white sharks, the ferocious snapping turtles, and the rest could not withstand him. They could not even force him to slow down.
In less than two breaths, every commander-level sea beast in the charge had been wiped out.
“As expected, I didn’t ask the wrong person. He’s actually broken through to councilor level!”
Li Dawei, commanding the battle, was ecstatic.
This battle had come far too suddenly. He had thought they would suffer heavy losses, perhaps even lose the entire base. But now it seemed there was little to fear.
“Fight back!”
“Kill that king-level beast. Then, in the future, we’ll slaughter those two emperor-level monsters as well. At that point, we can sound the horn of counterattack!”
Li Dawei could hardly contain his hope.
High in the sky, the intelligent fighter spat out tongues of fire, each shot landing true, each one killing a sea beast. Its efficiency was astonishing, almost unbelievable.
Qin Ming did not stop. He pressed deeper into the ocean.
After advancing thirty thousand meters, he saw a three-headed serpent, each of its heads a hundred meters long, writhing in the air and stirring waves dozens of meters high.
As for the body hidden beneath the sea, even Qin Ming could not tell how long it was.
“Come!”
Qin Ming let out a long cry.
He fixed his gaze on the three snake heads: one black as ink, one pure white as snow, and one entirely crimson.
Whoosh!
His body twisted, and in an instant he was upon it, bringing his blade down.
The black snake head suddenly opened its maw and spat out a mass of black liquid.
“Poison?”
Inside Qin Ming’s dantian, the miniature star surged into rapid motion. His genetic force seeped out of his body, forming a protective barrier. Meanwhile, the battle blade in his hand moved faster than the serpent’s reaction. With one stroke, he severed the black snake head.
His genetic-force barrier was corroded down to a thin film, but he paid it no mind.
Hiss, hiss, hiss!
The serpent went berserk, churning the sea into monstrous waves.
The red head spat scorching flames that blazed for a thousand feet, and its long tail suddenly emerged as well, tearing a long trench across the sea surface as it lashed toward Qin Ming’s back with devastating force.
It was fast, but not fast enough.
Bang!
Qin Ming planted a step, and the seawater below instantly formed a black vortex.
This time he did not fly. Instead, power exploded from beneath his feet, driving his speed to a terrifying extreme, nearly like teleportation. He dodged both flame and tail, then appeared above the serpent.
Pshh!
Another strike, and the red head was severed.
Clean and decisive.
Even its scales, harder than alloy, could not withstand him in the slightest.
Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!
The serpent shrieked, and the remaining head quickly sank below the waves.
The seawater within several thousand meters had already been dyed red with blood.
The strong cultivators watching this scene around the world were all thrilled.
Many were even cheering before televisions and computers, while others leapt to their feet and clenched their fists, shouting, “Don’t go into the water! Never go into the water! The ocean is the sea beasts’ home. In the water, their power rises by at least twenty percent, while our councilors are suppressed. The difference only grows larger!”
This was a truth many understood, and it was also why sea beasts had always been the most terrifying foe.
Even Hong, facing those two emperor-level beasts in the sea, could at best achieve a stalemate. But if the battle took place in the air, both Hong and Thunder God were confident they could kill them.
The sea had become the sea beasts’ natural domain.
