Outside the Canaan Academy admissions venue in Wutan City, the crowd was thick and the atmosphere lively. Young cultivators from all over had gathered to register, hoping to earn the chance to enter this prestigious institution of higher learning on the Dou Qi Continent.

Xiao Yan, Xun Er, Xiao Yu, Xiao Mei, and the others had also come to the admissions site.

Looking at the densely packed crowd before him, Xiao Yan could not help frowning. He secretly marveled at the intensity of the competition.

“There are so many people applying. I wonder whether we’ll be able to get in smoothly.”

Xiao Yu raised her chin slightly and said with confidence, “What are you afraid of? With me here, there’ll definitely be no problem.”

Xiao Yan glanced at her and said with a smile, “Oh? Then, Sister Xiao Yu, do you have some brilliant solution? Don’t go boasting now, only to find yourself unable to get in.”

Xiao Yu glared at him and snapped, “Xiao Yan, stop making sarcastic remarks. If you’re so capable, think of a way to get in yourself instead of questioning me.”

Xiao Yan shrugged and spread his hands. “I don’t have that kind of ability. Since you have a way, you lead us.”

Just as the two began trading barbs, Xiao Mei hurriedly changed the subject.

“All right, all right, stop arguing. We should think about how to register successfully.”

Xiao Yu gave a soft snort and turned to Xiao Yan.

“The person in charge of recruitment here in Wutan City this time is my instructor. As her favorite student, I naturally have my own way. Just follow me.”

Xun Er nodded slightly. “Then we’ll have to trouble you, Sister Xiao Yu.”

Xiao Yu waved her hand. “We’re family. No need to be so polite. However, once we get inside, all of you must be careful.”

With that, Xiao Yu led Xiao Yan and the others toward the entrance to the admissions venue.

She took a jade-green token from her robes and approached the guard, speaking with him for a while.

The guard glanced at the token in her hand, then looked at Xiao Yu. He swept his eyes over Xiao Yan and the others several times before nodding.

“Let them pass.”

Xiao Yu waved Xiao Yan and the others over. After putting away the token, she wore a smug smile.

“Well? I told you there wouldn’t be a problem.”

Xiao Yan smiled. “Sister Xiao Yu really is impressive. Without you, who knows how long we would have had to wait in line outside?”

“Of course,” Xiao Yu said proudly, lifting her head. “Now, let’s hurry inside. We mustn’t delay the registration.”

After Xiao Yan and the others successfully registered under Xiao Yu’s guidance, they headed deeper into the examination grounds.

At the entrance to a passageway stood a tall, stern-faced man who blocked their path.

Xiao Yu looked at him helplessly, then stepped forward.

“Senior Ke, we’re here to take the examination. These people are all members of my clan.”

Senior Ke looked at Xiao Yu, then at Xiao Yan and the others.

“Oh? Here to take the examination? Instructor Rolin has given her orders. If you want to use the back door, you’ll naturally have to endure a test.”

A wry smile appeared on Xiao Yu’s face.

“Senior Ke, aren’t you deliberately making things difficult for us?”

“Very well. The test begins now. I’ll wait for you here.”

“All you need to do is cross this threshold. Once you do, you’ll be considered to have passed.”

The group exchanged glances. Then, after taking a deep breath, they walked toward the entrance.

Xun Er passed through without difficulty and went inside.

When it was Xiao Yan’s turn, he narrowed his eyes slightly and strode forward with light steps. The entire process was almost absurdly easy, leaving even Senior Ke momentarily stunned.

Looking at Xiao Yan, who had passed with ease, Senior Ke showed a trace of surprise before praising him.

“Not bad. I never expected someone so young to possess such extraordinary strength. It seems Instructor Rolin may be able to accept some excellent students this time.”

Xiao Yan cupped his hands modestly. “You flatter me, Senior. I was merely lucky.”

Senior Ke waved his hand. “To perform so effortlessly in a test like this cannot be attributed to luck alone. All right, you’ve passed.”

Xiao Yan and the others continued forward. They had only just emerged from the passageway when they heard a clear voice call out, “Yu’er!”

The group turned toward the sound and saw a graceful woman walking toward them.

Dressed entirely in red, she was especially striking beneath the sunlight.

Xiao Yu’s eyes lit up. She immediately rushed over, threw her arms around the woman, and teased her with a laugh.

“Xue Ni, we haven’t seen each other in so long, yet you haven’t put on any weight.”

The woman called Xue Ni lightly patted Xiao Yu on the shoulder and laughed.

“You little rascal. The moment we meet, you start making fun of me.”

Xiao Yu released her and took her hand before turning to Xiao Yan and the others.

“This is Xue Ni, my good friend at Canaan Academy. She’s incredibly talented. She’s already a four-star Dou Practitioner.”

Xiao Yan and the others looked at the woman in red with admiration.

At their age, the strength of a four-star Dou Practitioner was already quite impressive.

Xiao Yu looked at Xue Ni again and began introducing Xiao Yan and the others.

“Xue Ni, these are all members of my clan. This is Xun Er.”

As she spoke, she pointed toward Xun Er, who stood to one side. Xun Er gave a slight nod and offered a gentle smile.

Xiao Yu then introduced Xiao Mei and the others one by one.

When she reached Xiao Yan, she leaned close to Xue Ni’s ear and whispered, “This is Xiao Yan, the one I told you about before.”

Xue Ni’s eyes immediately brightened. She looked Xiao Yan up and down.

“So this is the cousin you told me about, the one whose cultivation had remained at the third stage of Dou Qi? He’s actually this handsome?”

With that, she could not help laughing.

Xiao Yu glanced at Xiao Yan somewhat awkwardly and hurriedly explained, “I didn’t go around telling everyone about you. I only happened to mention it once while talking in my sleep. I really didn’t mean to.”

Xiao Yan smiled and waved his hand.

Xue Ni nodded. “Indeed. Judging from Xiao Yan’s appearance now, his strength must have changed completely. To undergo such a tremendous transformation in so short a time—Xiao Yan, you’re truly impressive.”

Xiao Yan cupped his hands and replied modestly, “You’re too kind. I still have many shortcomings and must continue working hard at my cultivation.”

Xue Ni smiled. “You don’t have to be so modest. By the way, you’re preparing to take the test, aren’t you? I’ll take you there. Along the way, I can also tell you about a few things to watch out for during the examination.”

“Oh, and that person you hate—Luo Bu—is now a four-star Dou Practitioner.”

Xiao Yu then turned to look at Xiao Yan.

Xiao Yan let out a cold laugh. “Why are you looking at me? Don’t get any strange ideas. There’s already someone in my heart!”

“Besides, he’s only a four-star Dou Practitioner. I’m sure you can deal with him yourself, Sister Xiao Yu. Right?”

“Er... Yu’er, it seems your charm has diminished a little.”

“Hmph! I don’t care about him anyway!”
