Wang Chu prided himself on his noble birth and had toyed with quite a few girls, but he had never encountered anyone with an aura as distinctive as Ning Xi’s.

Many noble youths his age frequently lingered in pleasure quarters, losing themselves in sensual indulgence and extravagant amusements.

Wang Chu was no exception. He was accustomed to using money and status to purchase fleeting pleasure. Yet Ning Xi’s appearance stirred in him an unprecedented interest.

Even if she was still young, that was precisely what made playing with her so thrilling.

“What do you say? My father is the king. Becoming my girlfriend would bring you enormous benefits.” Wang Chu smiled confidently, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly as greed and possessiveness flickered in his eyes.

He believed that, with his status and wealth, no girl could refuse his “favor.”

In his view, Ning Xi might possess a cool and aloof bearing, but in the end she was merely an ordinary noble girl with a bit of talent. With a few calculated moves, he could easily make her submit.

Besides, someone who had only just arrived was surely unable to resist temptation.

He completely ignored Jun Han, failing to notice the icy look in his eyes.

“Sorry, but I’m not interested in you. I still have to cultivate.” Ning Xi did not even spare him a glance. She simply walked past him.

Wang Chu was not angered. As he watched Ning Xi leave, a fierce flame flashed in his eyes. After all, a girl like her only intensified his desire to conquer her.

With a single blur, he once again appeared in front of Ning Xi, blocking her path.

“I’m already a Level Twenty-One Great Soul Master, and I’ll soon advance to the Heavenly Supreme Rank. What do you say? Will you reconsider?”

“She said she’s not interested in you. Can’t you understand plain speech?” Jun Han said coldly.

Only then did Wang Chu turn his gaze toward Jun Han. Narrowing his eyes, he scrutinized him carefully.

“Boy, what are you to her? How dare you speak to me like that?”

“You’re not worthy of knowing.”

Jun Han’s cold and arrogant reply instantly enraged Wang Chu. His face darkened as he glared at him.

“How arrogant. If you have the nerve, fight me. If you lose, she becomes my girlfriend. If I lose, I’ll become your underling. How about it?” Wang Chu curled his lips into a smile.

One of these two was only Level Eighteen and the other Level Nineteen. Each had only one soul ring. Could they possibly defeat him?

“I’m not making that wager with you. She isn’t a commodity.” Jun Han frowned slightly, his displeasure evident.

At those words, Ning Xi paused for a moment before breaking into a smile.

“You want me to be your girlfriend? Then fight me.”

Jun Han’s expression changed at once, worry surfacing in his eyes.

“No.”

“Don’t worry.” Ning Xi gave him a reassuring smile. She, too, wanted to see how strong she had become after a year of cultivation.

Wang Chu was hardly a gentleman. Upon hearing that Ning Xi was willing to fight him, his heart leaped with delight. This time, he was certain he could defeat the girl before him.

“Fine! The academy has a sparring arena, and there are teachers there as well. We’ll fight there. Remember, if you lose, you have to become my girlfriend!” Wang Chu wore a triumphant smile, shot Ning Xi a provocative glance, and then swaggered toward the arena.

Several of his followers hurried after him, occasionally bursting into mocking laughter as though they had already witnessed Ning Xi’s defeat.

Once they had left, Jun Han’s expression grew even more solemn. He caught Ning Xi by the arm and said with a frown, “Sister Ning Xi, you can’t agree to this! That fellow may be a wastrel, but his family has some influence within the academy. What if he refuses to honor the wager?”

Ning Xi gently patted Jun Han on the shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile.

“Relax. Don’t you know how strong I am? Dealing with him will be more than easy.”

Jun Han sighed helplessly. He knew Ning Xi’s strength. Although she had yet to obtain her second soul ring, she was indeed far stronger than Wang Chu.

Even so, he could not help feeling worried. Looking into Ning Xi’s resolute eyes, he finally nodded.

“All right. But be careful.”

The two of them then headed toward the sparring arena. Jun Han’s emotions were complicated along the way, while Ning Xi appeared exceptionally calm.

Her steps were light yet firm, as though she were merely about to take part in an ordinary practice match.

By the time they arrived, quite a few people had already heard the news and rushed over to watch.

Xue Ke and the others also hurried there. The moment they saw Ning Xi and Jun Han, they immediately sensed that something was wrong.

“Hey! Why is Little Ning Xi fighting that man?” Xue Ke felt uneasy. She did not want someone she had only just taken a liking to be bullied so easily.

Dugu Yan and the others were nearby as well. Upon seeing Ning Xi and Wang Chu on the platform, they exchanged bewildered glances.

“How did those two end up fighting?”

“Jun Han, what happened?”

In response to their questions, Jun Han helplessly recounted everything that had just happened. Only then did the others understand the situation.

“Hmph! These bullies only pick on the weak. He probably thinks Sister Ning Xi is young and easy to bully.” Xue Ke angrily slapped the railing in front of her.

“We should let everyone know Sister Xiao Xi’s identity, so that no fool comes looking for trouble again.”

“Ke Ke, don’t be so anxious. Let’s watch first. I don’t think anything will happen to Ning Xi. Look—she hasn’t shown the slightest trace of panic.” Dugu Yan kept her eyes fixed on the platform as she attempted to calm Xue Ke.

Ye Lingling also wore a worried expression, but there was nothing she could do except watch for the moment.

Wang Chu was already standing in the center of the arena, while his followers stood to one side, periodically shouting taunts.

When Wang Chu saw Ning Xi and Jun Han enter, a smug smile curved his lips.

“I thought you wouldn’t dare to come.”

Ning Xi ignored his provocation and walked straight to the opposite side of the arena. She rotated her wrist slightly, her gaze calm and sharp.

“Let’s begin,” Ning Xi said indifferently. Her voice betrayed no change in emotion.

Wang Chu let out a cold laugh. The soul rings beneath his feet suddenly lit up—yellow and yellow—revealing the strength of a Great Soul Master.

After a dazzling flash of purple light, a gigantic blue-violet king cobra appeared behind him. Its cold and sinister eyes fixed upon Ning Xi.

Ning Xi’s expression remained unchanged as she examined the martial soul with interest. No wonder he had the confidence to act so arrogantly; this martial soul was fairly impressive.

He had probably obtained that soul ring only recently as well.

Wang Chu smiled, his eyes brimming with smugness.

“Well? Frightened?”

“Wang Chu, beast martial soul: King Cobra. Level Twenty-One Control-Type Great Soul Master.”

Ning Xi’s gaze sharpened. The soul ring beneath her feet suddenly blazed to life, and a purple soul ring emerged. Its brilliant radiance instantly illuminated the entire sparring arena.

She raised her right hand slightly. Soul power surged like a rising tide, and within her palm, an ancient long sword slowly materialized.

The Seven Kill Sword—appear!

The sword was entirely black, radiating a chilling killing intent, like a piece of cold iron forged in the depths of hell.

A faint crimson glow flowed along the blade, revealing a razor edge that made the heart tremble.

Ancient patterns were carved into the hilt. Once held, the sword seemed to carry the sensation of a destructive force contained within it.

The instant Ning Xi grasped the Seven Kill Sword, a powerful aura erupted from her body. The surrounding air seemed to tear apart in an instant, releasing a sharp, shrill howl.

Her gaze grew even colder, as though she had become a sword goddess who commanded life and death.

“Ning Xi, martial soul: Seven Kill Sword. One-Ring Assault-Type Battle Soul Master.”

A roar of astonishment swept through the arena.
