“Did he really just touch it?”

“Wait, is that thing really called a Wurmple? Why is it responding to the streamer? Can it understand human speech?”

“You’re amazing, streamer! You’re the first streamer I’ve seen brave enough to touch a monster!”

“The streamer says these creatures are called Pokémon. At first, I thought the streamer was an idiot, but now I’m starting to believe him.”

The last comment was from Liu Hui, who had been watching Qian Lin’s stream since the very beginning. He had even chatted with Qian Lin a few times, mostly mocking him, but now, seeing this heartwarming scene on screen, he strangely began to believe what Qian Lin had said before.

Qian Lin smiled cheerfully as he gently petted the Wurmple, watching it nibble on an apple while explaining to the camera: “Most Pokémon, like this Wurmple, don’t actively attack humans. They are similar to wild animals and are actually afraid of humans at first sight, since we are completely unfamiliar to them.”

“But unlike wild animals, Pokémon can understand what you say, and their hearts are purer than humans’. They can even sense your kindness or malice. If they accept you, they will never harm you. Even if you come with ill intent, their first choice is not to attack but to flee.”

“They only attack when they have truly nowhere left to run.”

Pokémon are incredibly innocent creatures—not sarcastically, but genuinely. Qian Lin wanted to educate the public about these pure beings, hoping people wouldn’t dislike them just because they appeared before humans.

Withdrawing his hand, Qian Lin picked up his backpack from the ground and turned toward the Wurmple. “Thank you, Wurmple. I’m leaving now. I hope that next time I see you, you’ll have evolved into either a Beautifly or a Dustox. If you still recognize me then, come talk to me—I’d love to take some photos.”

“Meow~” The Wurmple happily squinted its eyes and nodded gently at Qian Lin.

It seemed to be saying goodbye.

With his backpack on and spirits high, Qian Lin continued on his journey, his smile even brighter than when he had arrived. “After the stream, I’ll create a little app on ChaoXin to introduce these little guys. It’ll be called... the Pokémon Encyclopedia. If any of you are interested, feel free to check it out.”

Perhaps because of his encounter with the Wurmple, Qian Lin’s resolve to educate the public about Pokémon grew stronger. If at first it was just an experiment, now... he truly wanted the people of this world to accept Pokémon.

Glancing back at the Wurmple still nibbling on its apple, Qian Lin couldn’t help but smile.

Gathering his resolve and looking toward the distant mountains and forests, he waved his hand. “Let’s go, onward toward the unknown world!”

He recalled that famous saying: “Why climb the mountain? Because it’s there.”

So now: onward toward the unknown world, because the world is there.

“Damn, this actually got me fired up.”

“More inspiring than a professional speech.”

“Streamer, I believe you. Can you tell me more about Wurmple? And what did you mean when you said it evolves into Beautifly and Dustox? Do Wurmple really turn into butterflies like bugs do?”

“Bugs turn into moths, not butterflies.”

Qian Lin smiled faintly at the gradually fading comments. “You’re right. Wurmple can evolve into either a Beautifly or a Dustox. In the Pokémon world, this change is called ‘evolution.’ It’s not just Wurmple—most Pokémon can evolve.”

“Evolution?”

“Do you mean individual life forms changing directly, or species evolving over time like apes evolving into humans?”

“I don’t believe it.”

“I believe it.”

“Pokémon evolution refers to a change in the level of life itself, like Wurmple just now,” Qian Lin explained. “Most Pokémon have only one way to evolve, but Wurmple has two possibilities. It will randomly evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon. Silcoon will later evolve into Beautifly, a very beautiful butterfly.”

“Cascoon will evolve into Dustox, which is also very pretty.”

Beautifly and Dustox—one a butterfly, the other a moth—show just how fascinating a Pokémon like Wurmple really is.

“So it’s like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, but with evolution.”

Qian Lin didn’t mind the simplification and smiled. “You can think of it that way, but... well, if I ever get the chance to actually livestream a Pokémon evolving, you’ll probably understand what I mean.”

Pokémon evolution is a profound subject—even in the original Pokémon world, it remains a mystery. You might scoff upon hearing about it, but when you witness a Pokémon evolve yourself, the emotions you feel are indescribable.

Seeing a living creature transform and ascend to a new life form—that feeling can’t be summed up in words.

“Streamer, is that Beautifly you mentioned the one with a white and black body, two antennae, a curved proboscis, black wings edged in yellow with yellow spots inside?”

“Haha, no way. Those two don’t sound similar at all.”

Qian Lin was momentarily taken aback by the comment, recalling the appearance of Beautifly, then nodded gently. “Yes, that’s exactly what Beautifly looks like. Despite its appearance, Beautifly is very aggressive. If you encounter one, remember to keep your distance.”

“By the way, how do you know which Pokémon the streamer is talking about?”

“It’s not that I know—I've actually seen this butterfly with my own eyes, on the battlefield.”

“Whoa!”

“Respect!”

“Salute!!!”

“Battlefield...” Qian Lin stopped walking, staring at the comment in disbelief.

“Streamer, do you really know these monsters?”

Strangely, after this comment appeared, the chat fell silent for a moment. Perhaps sensing that the commenter was different, the other viewers held their breath, watching the stream quietly.

Qian Lin didn’t hesitate. He didn’t know who this person was, but he answered seriously: “I’m certain. I wouldn’t say I understand everything about these creatures, but I can assure you that everything I’ve said is true.”

Thanks to the system’s memory upload, Qian Lin’s mind contained a complete national Pokédex, not only that but a wealth of knowledge about Pokémon. He even knew how to make Poké Balls.

But he didn’t yet have the capability to produce them. The technology behind Poké Balls is too advanced. Even if handed over to human researchers, it would take decades to figure out. The spatial compression technology alone exceeds current human understanding.

“I have a question—just ask it for me and my companions, if you really understand these monsters…”

“Go ahead,” Qian Lin nodded.

“There’s a black and red bird with wings and tail like claws, covered with black markings. When it spreads its wings in the sky, it looks like the letter...”

“Y,” Qian Lin interrupted, finishing the commenter’s sentence.

“You really know! What is it? Please tell me! I’ll give you as many donations as you want! I just want to know what that thing really is!”

“I’m starting to believe the streamer…”

“Me too.”

You could hear the desperation in the commenter’s voice, almost a plea.

Qian Lin’s expression darkened. Though standing in the fresh wilderness, he felt a chilling coldness.

He took a deep breath, his heart turbulent. “Yveltal—that’s the name of that Pokémon.”

He lifted his foot and continued deeper into the forest, explaining as he walked. “What I’m about to say, you probably won’t believe. I planned to wait until I encountered them to explain, but now…”

He roughly knew who the commenter was.

“There are many legends in the Pokémon world—Pokémon that created the world, ones that bring light, those symbolizing the sea, land, and sky. These Pokémon share a common title: Legendary Pokémon.”

“You can simply think of them as... gods.”

“That guy... is a god?”

In a military camp, a man lying on a bed stared blankly at the screen, disbelief written all over his face.

But recalling the moment he faced that creature, calling it a god didn’t seem so far-fetched.

Qian Lin recalled scenes from the previous life’s anime and looked up at the sky. “That’s right. Yveltal is one of the legendary Pokémon—a god representing death. When it awakens, it brings death, absorbing other life and ending their existence.”

Qian Lin looked into the camera. “Comrade... are your companions now turned into statues?”

“...Yes.”

“As expected.” Qian Lin sighed. “Yveltal absorbs life. Those drained of life become lifeless statues. There is a way to revive them, though—that’s another legendary god named Xerneas, the embodiment of life.”

“They can come back to life? Is that true?”

“Xerneas has that ability,” Qian Lin nodded.

“Usually, wherever Yveltal awakens, Xerneas is nearby.” At this, Qian Lin paused and looked into the camera. “Did you happen to encounter a Pokémon that looks like a deer, with a black and blue body and multicolored antlers?”

“You mean... that deer is Xerneas?”

The man in the military camp looked grim, a pale regret washing over him.

“Looks like you did meet it,” Qian Lin sighed.

Since they encountered Xerneas but the statues hadn’t revived yet, it was likely because humans had attacked Xerneas. Though gentle, Xerneas has its limits. If attacked that way, how could it save those humans?

This is the mistake made by those who don’t understand the legendary Pokémon.
