Chapters One to Three: Lessons and Healing (Fourth Update, An Extra Post Rewarding the Author's Diligence)
“There are people in this world worth saving, but there are also those who are not.”
The water dragon burst through the sky and sea, breaking through the fishing boat. It hovered in the air, coldly gazing down at the stunned fishermen crowd below.
Then, once again, it dove from the sky.
This time, its target was another fishing boat.
Controlling the airflow, Ji Yu did not destroy the boat. Instead, it simply stood upon the deck.
The massive body of the dragon salamander still partly drifted with the wind over the sea surface, but its front half, with giant claws, firmly planted on the bow of the fishing vessel.
The enormous dragon head loomed over the two men collapsed on the deck with furious eyes.
“Monster!”
“Monster! Run!”
The two men screamed in terror, struggling desperately to stand and jump into the sea.
But just as they scrambled to run, a sudden cold mist sprayed from the dragon’s nostrils.
In an instant, the mist swept over the bow, rapidly freezing it solid.
Along with the bow turning into ice, the two struggling men also became encased in icy spikes.
Bathed in sunlight, their terrified faces were frozen in a moment of hopelessness that words could not express.
Yet even so, Ji Yu’s anger showed no signs of abating.
With a powerful sweep of his claw, Ji Yu smashed a nearby harpoon gun mount to pieces.
Then, in the next moment, he proudly raised the dragon salamander’s head high.
Turning the massive head, the dragon looked toward the other fishing boats on the nearby sea.
———
“Heavens, what kind of monster is that?”
“Stop shouting and start the engines! If you want to live, get the boats moving!”
A man on one of the fishing vessels shouted loudly after witnessing the horrific scenes of the two destroyed boats ahead.
Meanwhile, the other boats nearby all began accelerating rapidly, each fleeing toward the shore.
Of course, during this, they did not forget to call the coast guard.
But none of their actions affected Ji Yu’s movements.
The dragon salamander leapt back into the sea, speeding across the water’s surface with incredible velocity.
Around it, gigantic waves rolled furiously toward the fishing boats.
“The monster is coming! It’s too fast! Our boats can’t outrun it! Hurry, jump overboard!”
Someone standing at the stern screamed as the serpentine wave rapidly approached, then immediately jumped into the sea.
At that very moment, the fleeing fishing boat suddenly exploded and shattered apart.
Countless fragments scattered, with planks and supplies plunging into the water.
One after another, fishing boats began to be destroyed in explosions.
Wooden boats were easy enough to annihilate, but when it came to metal vessels, Ji Yu refrained from violent collisions. Instead, he brushed past them and exhaled a breath of freezing mist.
In an instant, aside from the exploding wooden boats, every metal fishing boat was turned into drifting ice sculptures.
The entire process lasted less than three minutes.
Not a single fishing boat on the sea remained unscathed—either shattered into pieces or frozen solid.
Onshore, the crowd watching fell into stunned silence.
Many sat down heavily on the ground, unable to accept what they had seen, breaking into sobs.
After Ji Yu finished delivering his lesson to the fishing fleet, the dragon salamander finally lifted its head above the sea surface to survey the surroundings.
At this point, Ji Yu’s fury had begun to subside.
Gazing at the sea, he noticed some humans who had reacted quickly and jumped overboard were still alive, swimming desperately in the water.
But fewer than ten remained.
Ji Yu regarded these fortunate few coldly but did not continue to vent his anger.
The lesson had been sufficient.
These people and those onshore would surely never forget this day.
He never spared a glance toward the groups two or three kilometers away on the shore, whether they were weeping or shouting in distress.
Having done what needed to be done, he began swimming toward the pod of whales.
The whales, already frightened by the commotion Ji Yu had caused, huddled together, floating closely.
Yet, they displayed remarkable intelligence.
They had not abandoned two injured pilot whales that had harpoon guns embedded in their backs.
The pod nudged the wounded whales, helping them remain afloat despite their injuries.
However, the wounds were severe. Though the two pilot whales could barely stay afloat now, without treatment, they would soon perish, becoming whale fall on the ocean floor.
The dragon salamander’s massive body moved steadily closer to the pod.
Naturally, the whales tried to flee in panic.
In their frantic escape, the two injured pilot whales lagged behind the pod.
Fearful of the dragon salamander, the pod dared not turn back to aid their companions.
But they did not abandon them entirely.
As the dragon approached the wounded whales, the pod repeatedly called out and lingered nearby, unwilling to leave.
Ji Yu, moved by the pod’s intelligence, refrained from further aggression.
Approaching one of the injured pilot whales, it lowed softly, its small eyes—so disproportionate to its massive body—fixed on Ji Yu, trembling with fear.
It was terrified but too injured to swim properly.
Beyond watching and softly vocalizing, it was helpless.
Ji Yu sighed deeply, then immediately sensed the life energy in the water and gently guided it.
Before his eyes, the vital energy flowed slowly from the dragon salamander’s claw pressing on the whale’s back into the wound.
Perhaps sensing this, the pilot whale began to close its eyes slightly, showing a faint expression of relief.
But this expression did not last long.
As the dragon salamander suddenly pulled the harpoon gun from its back, the whale let out a painful, mournful cry.
Blood gushed from the wound, and the whale felt its life ebbing away.
Yet soon, the bleeding stopped, replaced by a strange coolness that spread through the wound.
Though the bleeding was halted, the injury remained severe and frightening.
The dragon salamander’s ability to channel water’s life energy was far weaker than advanced life grafting techniques.
Still, it was enough—for now—to save the pilot whale’s life.
This entire process took Ji Yu about five minutes.
Not wasting time, he turned immediately to tend to the other injured pilot whale.
Everything went smoothly, and both whales’ injuries were successfully stabilized.
What remained was to let their wounds slowly heal over time.
By this point, Ji Yu intended to drive the pod away from the area.
But just then, two fighter jets suddenly streaked across the sky.
Hearing the roaring engines overhead, Ji Yu furrowed his brow.
Then, with cold detachment, he met their approach without concern.
